Hello, so i've been using CorelDRAW for the latest months, after a long time of not using older versions of it, so i've got the last version, and it seems to run pretty slow, and laggy on my system (i7 2600K 4,5GHz, 16GB of RAM)
I'm working with a couple of big files, and once the history list piles up a few hundreds of steps it gets insanely slow every time i pop it up, so it's basically impossible to work with the history tab permanently opened as i slows every action i do, even the lightest task takes 5-10 seconds from when i give the input to when it's completed.
I've investigated a bit and although the CPU usage stays pretty low during these events, the usage of one of the threads (my processor has 8 threads) spikes to 100, and stays above 90% for the entire duration of those 5-10 seconds, to then go back to 10-20% staying idle until i make another action, and it all repeats. So unless there's some option to change or some patch or something to apply, i'd say this is probably the LEAST multicore supporting piece of software i've ever used. Anyway i'm using the 64bit version as my system is 64bit and my hardware supports 64bit architecture.
Any idea on the matter?
I see many of you have had issues with CorelDraw 2019 slowing their PC down tremendously to the point it takes several minutes to open a folder. Well I had the same problem and this is how I solved the problem. We bought two copies, one for myself and one for my co-worker. I did my install first so I chose "Custom Install" instead of "Typical Install" just so I could see what was being installed BUT I didn't make any changes then proceeded with the install. I then helped my co-working with their install so I had them just run the typical install and their install turned out fine with no issues SO I un-installed mine and started over using the "Typical Install" and all is good with no issues. So Corel needs to look into the custom install and find out what is fowling things up.
I use custom installation, I install to non default installation folder, I install ghost script and pretty much everything. No speed issues and no stability issues.
Are you using Adobe "Type 1" fonts (.pfb & .pfm) in your cdr files?
Windows 10 current recent updates. I.e. 1803, 1903, 1909?
Do you have JUST CorelDraw 2019 (with update 3) installed. I.e. no older versions such as X7, X8, prior to v2017 that has new font manager,?
Yes do have some Adobe Type 1 fonts but the cdr file that was open at the time had only images no text.
I do have X8 installed with 2019.
you may need to get with Tech support. I honestly think something is up when older versions of CorelDraw (i.e. X8) and the newer versions that utilize the NEW Font Manager are installed on the same machine. I am finding that REMOVING older versions (in my case X7), and starting fresh with latest v2019 seems to be better. I.e. less crashes and hangups etc.
(it could also very well be the Font Navigator in the older versions conflicting with the newer version Font Managers. Seems you would need to use one or the other, not both?
The reason I brought up Type 1 fonts, is that back when Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was released, it removed ALL support for Type 1... you can still use them, but Microsoft definitely broke something when using Type 1 fonts with CorelDraw, even up to v2019 I have experienced.
I can load a file that uses Type 1 fonts (with latest Windows 10 1909 version and CorelDraw 2019 update 3), it will DRAG on and be really slow while working. But if I remove all those objects that utilize Type 1 fonts (or replace with an OpenType or TrueType alternative version), then it works just fine again. So that is why I brought it up, but you said there were no text objects, so this isn't the case with you.
