Corel 2019 and now 2020
When selecting the font "dropdown" the names of the fonts are not visible on the screen.
The font is there and can be selected, but you cant see its name before selecting it.
I have an old version 2018 on the same PC and that works fine.
The same thing happened after downloading 2020.
Any help would be appreciated.
Have you tried resetting the font database?
Start Font Manager with F8 held down and select lboth options....
I tried this with corel open at the time and closed but does not seem to make a difference,
When corel is open and FM run it complains another app is using the database. (which i assume is CD.
Sorry - I forgot to say to do it without any other CGS program open...
If that doesn't help, have you tried a repair?
Unbelievealy the repair did not fix the problem either.
This is then probable why when i downloaded CDGS2020 and ran it i had the same issue with the font not displaying. I am having trouble thinking what it could be. I thought it might be the windows theme that messed with the display but then why would it work on CD2018 but not CD2019&2020.
Could it be a registry key that has been incorrectly set, do you have any experience in that regard.?
Thanks for your help thus far...
A long shot - what happens if you change the FM display theme (cogwheel -> color)?
ajwh - you genius...
The solution was not the theme, but was found in the font drop down cogwheel. (Not the one in FM but the one in CD2019)
When the cogwheel is clicked you have four tick boxes.
The third option 3. Use font to display Font names - was ticked in my case.
When I unticked this option the Font drop down started to display the fonts as normal - Hooray!
To test: I re-ticked the option and sure enough the font names go invisible again.
I think this option is misleading to some as you would think you must tick it so you can see the selected text previewing the selected font. But in my case this happens whether this is ticked or not, so not sure of its intended purpose.
Perhaps someone could enlighten me.
But regardless of its purpose my Fonts once again display - without ajwh comment I would not have found this solution.
A big thank you to the Corel Draw community.
