I've been doing some corrections with Photo-PAINT 2020 and PaintShop Pro 2021 and the combined tool set is better than it was before.
As a professional you still need to have Photo-PAINT the CMYK, LAB and Device N support are paramount for color corrections.
Although Corel really has not bothered to repair the tone curve dialog that was seriously broken in PP 2019. The upsampling feature in PP is nice and as good as PhotoZoom and in some cases better, however Photo-PAINT has been left to whither on the vine.
With that said the masking and path tools in PP are still superior to PSP and many like the purge clipboard command.
PSP has a photography workspace which quite frankly is a joke, just my opinion but it's like a guide to screwing up images. They also have a sea to sky for underwater and drone photography which I have not tested but it looks similar in action the the photography work space.
With that said the complete work space (which is an actual work space setting) has all the tools PSP has to offerr a professional image corrector at you finger tips.
PSP 2021 does bring a few new filters to the game AI noise reduction, AI Artifact removal are great they have the AI upsampling feature and the skin smoothing is very nice.
The tone curve being a significant tool is vastly better in PSP and the brightness/contrast and fill light/clarity tools are very reactive using the on image preview, (which uses GPU processing nicely).
PSP was built for the hobbyist and therefore a professional will have to sort through and ignore the features that produce those results not suited for pro work. With that said the key components of PSP 2021 are better than before, worth the upgrade price and and welcome addition to my image editing tool box as long as I have still Photo-PAINT.
Here is a simple 3 click fix and correct
Here is a screen capture left to right, PP using tune noise reduce noise, center PSP using digiial noise reduction and right using AI noise reduction. The color shift on the right was not the noise filter it was being being a jerk!
Here's a butterfly caught in flight using burst shooting 155 MM at 30 yards, the tune noise reduce noise filter in PP applied. The middle image is PSP AI max noise reduction and the lower is with the noise reduction handled in AfterShot Pro 3.
