CorelDraw has this nice layout style option named "booklet".But if you use this and include a background picture on a page, CorelDraw will not print it - or maybe just a little part of the background.
I recognized this problem since CD2022/2023, but also in CD2024 it seems not be fixed.
To exclude system or driver dependet sources of error I tried the appended file on 4 total different systems (win10 and win11) with 3 different printers.Result was always the same: Background picture was not printed correctly.
Using the layout style "Full Page" fixes the issue.Documentation to the feature im mean - see "Layout styles".
Is anyone able to print the appended 2-page example file? I would be surprised. Some printer offers a real preview. In such cases you may see the result. But do not look on the CorelDraw print preview - it lies.
booklet fail - test file.zip
All I did was to convert the image with the lens on page 1 and 4 to a bitmap and it printed.
Of course this would work. There is another workaround for this bug too - export to PDF and print it.
But if you buy a car with air condition, would you expect it to work? Or is it okay if the salesman tells you "Look, there are window lifters. It also gets colder if you open the windows."
Oh - another great workaround is to just not using booklet layout style.
You give such sketchy information it's impossible to understand where to start troubleshooting the issue.
What printer, postscript or non-postscript? I tested printing your file on 2 non postscript devices, both behaved the same. I have no driver based postscript devices to test and the issues is irrelevant on properly configured RIPs.
My clients running InDesign cannot print facing pages to postsript RIPS or non postscript devices. CorelDRAW facing pages output has become easier in 2023 or maybe 2022 I believe.
I only output to Postscript 3 or true PDF RIPS and have very little experience with driver based booklet output so I cannot recommend a driver based device postscript or non postscript that will support the live transparency in your file. (The lenses on page 1 and 4)
I have experience with output from all applications in Adobe and Corel, transparency can in many output devices cause issues and live transparency is only supported, to my knowledge in true PDF RIPs. I know of no non postscript devices that support live transparency.
Don't talk about sketchy information if you had the same issue without using a workaround.
All you wrote is completely irrelevant for the described issue. It also is irrelevant if other software have similar issues with transparency.
The point is that the booklet layout style in CorelDRAW leads to a printing issues, which is not present if you do not use this layout type.
Again I'm not sure what type of device you're printing to. Maybe you don't know the difference between live and static transparency?
