When using the Lighting effect with extrude the segments on round areas like the letter O are very visible and not blended into a gradient?
Please notice that the flat areas show smooth lighting gradients where the curved segments show many separate segments that are not blended. is there some way to adjust the number of gradient segments as you can when you make a gradient in Fill?
I'm afraid that's just how it is.Extrude is an old effect that's been in Draw for a very long time, and parts of it may not be up to par with what we expect nowadays. Maybe it was good enough before high resolution monitors and enhanced screen anti-aliasing?But I suspect there is no easy way to get the same result without splitting up the curved extrude parts, if we want to keep the same shading effect. If you look closer you will find that the shading is not just a simple fountain fill, it may (depending on what kind of effect you've added) in fact be shades going in more than one direction, and I doubt this could be achieved without breaking it up into smaller parts.A possible way around it could perhaps be if they used a bitmap fill?
As I said to David, it seems like you should be able to adjust that
banding just like you can adjust the number of steps in a gradient fill,
Time for a suggestion for CorelDRAW, eh?
I agree, yes you can do it manually, but this is the 21st century.
While waiting for a fix (), try this:Copy the Control Object to clipboard.Create a bitmap from the Extrude group. I suggest using anti-aliasing and transparent background. This will even out some of the rough steps and make the extrude look smoother. You can also try to add a Smart Blur effect afterwards to improve the soft look.Paste the original object back in to preserve some of the vector sharpness and editibility.I know, this is a brutal workaround but it can perhaps be a solution in some cases.Note that the bitmap will be better if you convert the entire Extrude group than if you break it apart and then convert the extruded part only.
