Typing text has black back ground. Just like this TEST until I deselect it then it returns to normal.
This is not set in the back ground options for text.
It happens to all fonts.
It happens to artistic text and paragraph text.
It happens with new default workspace.

Maybe??
Without anything selected grab the Text tool then look at the Object Properties docker. Make sure it is set to No Fill and set defaults.
The object properties works for me as I expect in this case. I'm leaning toward a corruption as the background starts out as filled and then flips to white when deselected.
Thank you for that. I think you are correct. I did a repair and it seems to have come good. Whew....
Funny I've been using corel draw since version 1 and never thought much of the Repair mechanism. I fully intended to uninstall reinstall when the option to run Repair came up. Turned out to be a winner.
Lesson here seems to be that clearing temp files or more likely, running the factory reset, can damage the install.
Touchwood this is a permanent fix.
Thanks again to everyone who contributed.
I've been using CorelDRAW since version 3 and have been observing similar behaviors as mentioned in your post and below since then.
The more the system is stressed, (less system resources compared to file complexity) the more likely a corruption of the application can happen. Some users run very low end systems and some build what supposedly are high end gaming systems that perform poorly with 2 D graphic applications and in some cases the users are very poor at computer configuration. Some users even build systems that are known to have issues with CorelDRAW.
Add the above to the fact that some users use extreme interface customization and especially importing customizations from older versions of Draw. In many cases this can cause corruption of the application.
The we can add the use of Macros, there are people creating, selling and supporting Macros that do a great job, then there are users experimenting with programming.
Add this all together and it can be a mess troubleshooting issues, computers today have fallen backward in terms of reliability.
This is not just CorelDRAW issue, I recently visited a few Adobe and Affinity forums and problems abound!
