i downloaded the subscription to 22/23 corel graphics suite (doesn't look much different than my X8) i thought the trace feature had been improved....looks and performs the same as my X8?
Good day to you David,
Doing a search here for Quadro cards I came across this thread. I am moving many CorelDRAW project files to AutoCAD. With AutoCAD sometimes I get these very small horizontal grey breaks visible only on curves, as if there was an "invisible" grey horizontal line bisecting curves. This happens with original ACAD files so its not some artifact from CorelDRAW.
Figures that today all is fine in AutoCAD so no screenshot. As far as functionality AutoCAD is fine, its only annoying to me. It seems AutoCAD has some issues with NVidia GeForce cards which is what I have.
So what does this have to do with CorelDRAW?
I found it is suggested to use an NVidia Quadro workstation cards rather than a GeForce card for best performance in AutoCAD. As these cards are older I found a great deal on a Quadro M4000 - 8 GB GDDR5 - PCIe 3.0 x16 - 4 x DisplayPort card and ordered it.
Now I'm wondering, while I'm wanting to solve what is only an annoying display artifact in AutoCAD am I going to create an issue with CorelDRAW?

Would this be the combination Xeon & Quadro and not specifically Quadro?
Sorry for the lengthy post as I needed a break to clear my brain from dealing with all splines in AutoCAD from the CorelDRAW export to DXF / DWG - in many instances export to PDF works better in this regard. I even tried CorelCAD but AutoCAD still opens the 'native' DWG file with splines.
Thanks and Cheers!
Great question! I suspect because of the many Xeon system specs posted here that it may be the BUSS on the main board. The Quadro display card in my opinion (at least many that have been posted here) were under powered. CorelDRAW needs a decent video card but not a gaming card.
Here's an issue that has popped up with my GeForce card and it's WEIRD. In Photo-PAINT, studio driver, hardware excelleration on for everything I sometimes when zooming in I get multiple very fine horizontal lines and right angle lines around tools. I noticed it after a Windows update. Funny thing the next Windows update it went away.
That was fine for months, then last week it started again. CorelDRAW and Photo-PAINT have a default of displaying the grid at 800%.
The really weird thing is that in Photo-PAINT if I open an image zoom to 800% the grid activates and once I turn it of I never have the issues. WEIRD.
I haven't tried it without zooming and turning the grid off since my last Windows update but I will.
Yes, as I found out that unless you have the NVidia Studio driver installed with a suitable card CorelDRAW it doesn't use the card at all.
What does happen is windows will shift the graphic load from the CPU to whatever card is installed. So without a graphic card installed the performance is terrible. When drawing a line from the first point its like stretching a rubber band. (!)
That' is weird with Photo-PAINT. I never use PhotoPAINT for anything really. I usually use PaintShop Pro if I do need to edit a bitmap mostly because it is what I am used to using.
I will try what you did and see what happens.
I do however use CorelDRAW all the way up to its maximum page size but usually around 900 inches is what I will use. I prefer to use AutoCAD in this case, but for what I do CorelDRAW is easier to knock something out. Currently I am working on the artwork for new San Francisco arrivals terminal and jumping between CorelDRAW and AutoCAD is annoying. This is why I am transferring all the CDR files to AutoCAD and dealing with all the splines!
By the way that strange AutoCAD display artifact showed up today but only on one small drawing.
The other larger drawing is ok - like I said its random.
So we both have random crap happening! lol
I get my Quadro M4000 this weekend so before I install it I'll do some bitmap tracing before and after the install and see if it matters. I'll also try out that weird PhotoPAINT thing.
Cheers
I just got a new Windows update today and I need more testing now.
If you have a video card on your main board (specifically laptops) you need to disable it.
