Verona Lake during the day

Hi Everybody,
This is a shot of Verona Lake taken during the day.
I greatly increased contrast and also changed the color of the water
to blue.
If anyone wants to see the original, let me know and I'll post it.
Phil
PS: I made a night time version which I am about to post.
  • Nice place and picture vibrance edition, ¡Good shoot!

  • Hi,

What's under the bridge? Looks like a paddle boat.

  • Hi Case,

Post a thumbanil of the original to let us notice differences.

    • Hi Silvio,
I'll post a smaller version with higher compression.
I have to find the original. I'm not well organized.

    • Hi,

Try working with getting more depth to the image. Try using the tone curve, contrast and so on for shadows. As it is now it feels too flat. The trees kind of melt together with the bridge. You have to do more image adjustment to it. Not simply post a picture.

          Awesome! It's "magic"!... ok... "magical"!

Here's something that I consider a real tip when shooting a capture like this.  If you're not using RAW (and I don't think you have to) make sure that, if you can, set your camera for Adobe RGB or a larger RGB color space.

The underside of the trees (shadow areas) especially when the shadows are green, blue or of course the yellows in this combination will reproduce with greater detail.

            • Hi David,
              I'll keep that in mind.
so far, I have been resisting RAW, HDR, lenses (aka adjustment layers),
channel mixer, layer masks and a lot of other tools. I'm pretending that
they are of no use. Any day now, I'll give them a try just to prove that
they are of no use. (Joke)

              • Expand slowly, use Adobe RGB, or larger if youcamer supports them. Try the ne vibrance filter in PPX5.

                • Hi David,
                  Thanks for the advice.
I'm waiting for SP1 before buying X5. Were there bugs in PhotoPaint.
I've only noticed complaints about DRAW X5.

                  • There are bugs in every software, but the new vibrance filter which I use alot is great as is the new gray scale.  X5 has new color management which is very commercially compatible, it embeds all profiles now.
