I personally think that first post is perhaps sharpened a little much and also some of the highlights are too white & lost detail.
I did darken the eye area to emphasize those lashes and deepen the green.
Here is another crop of the same photo, I'd be curious which you might prefer
I put a cpt here if you want to see / mess around. You will see it had problem areas...

Being a huge cat lover (my wife and I have 4 -- we had 7 at one time) I like the first image much better -- the second makes the cat look like it is missing an eye (which may just be shadow) which makes the first one more appealing.

I liked the first. I took note of the sharpness and that's one of the things I liked. It would be interesting to see with different backgrounds.
