Here's something I cropped out of a larger image & adjusted some in PP.
I've got my own opinions, but I'll leave 'em out & just be open to whatever y'all have to say :)
Meet Grace:
I like more this crop to get a better use of the red in its ear. More color in eye and ear to increase color contrast and balance. More sharpening specially to show more hair in cat border to increase contrast against black background.
Nice, I like that a lot. I also like that the nose is more complete

Sure, I can do that. The cpt I linked above should have had an unaltered background layer, but it was sized down and did have work done in it. Anyway, here's a new link to a completely unaltered jpg direct from the camera.

Cool thanks. Can I assume sRGB color space?
Yes, pretty sure anything coming out of this camera is sRGB.
I'm trying to get a handle on color management but with no actual monitor calibration gear I don't think I'm in very good shape in that regard.
My monitor has a specific sRGB mode, so I choose that. The only printers I've used are home inkjets & print on demand places like cafepress that want rgb so in X5 I've been setting my documents to rgb. Really, I don't know what I'm doing lol but I do know that I've never printed to an actual print-shop cmyk type printer before, so I've been figuring I may as well work in rgb & convert later if I need to.
I did this as sRGB
Nice. I like the depth of color in the eye & ear & the fur looks good too, less blown out in the highlights than mine. Can't tell if it seems to be slightly tinted green, but I'm sure if that's the case it's my monitor not being properly calibrated where yours is correct.
One more reason for me to bit the bullet one of these days and get a proper calibration tool.
Damn cool looking cat! I have Mr. Kitty he's 17 and blind but still a great cat.
get the calibration device, read my books at www.graphictechnology.com and ruin you life!
I'm at the point where I have to adjust color of my granddaughters images so that they display well as the background onmy wife's cheap ass laptop. Then for real output.
Another look at your work on my image... You really got that eye that was so dark in shadow to come out, it's still dark but that looks much nicer.
I hope Mr. Kitty hangs in there for you, we lost our own "Senior Kitizen" (Sage) this past year... She'd been with me for over 19 years. I loved that old girl and I know there will never be another just like her. She was her own cat lol. It's amazing how such a small creature can have such a large personality.
Now I like it.
Yes, that is very nice indeed.

I like Michaels interpretation also, a harder (more contrast) look with a crop to accent the attitude and a tad more red. I tend toward a more soft look and not knowing what gray the cats fur is I opted for a warmer gray.
Just a bit of an issue around the whiskers but without downloading the original you're stuck with that.
