A new CorelDRAW user coming from Illustrator just asked me a question I can't answer. Hopefully someone here can provide a solution.
He wants to create an object, say a simple square. Then he wants to select a single node and move it to a precise location. In Adobe Illustrator this can be done via the Properties>Anchor Point>Transform dialog. Apparently there is no dialog box in DRAW that will allow this operation. Or is there?
I spent 20 minutes digging through the Corel Documentation before posting my question and don't you know... I found the answer!
The Object Coordinates docker has some interesting capabilities. I think that it is one of the lesser-known tools in CorelDRAW.
In practice, if I need to precisely position a node of a curve shape, I am often going to accomplish that by selecting the node with the Shape tool, then dragging and snapping it to a snap point on an object, a guideline, a grid point, etc.
I've never had a need to move individual nodes so I never gave a thought to using the Object Coordinates docker. The majority of my OEM projects begin with a supplied engineering blueprint. I drop guidelines as required and snap to them. The guidelines are usually left in place for checking purposes. Now that I know Illustrator can place nodes and objects with such precision I'm even more frustrated and disappointed with the art supplied by "creative agencies". But that's a whole topic on it's own, so yeah...
