Recently installed Win7 64bit, and Corel Draw X4 won't install. I just get an error message saying The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows that you're running. I've tried installing in compatibility mode for everything since XP SP2 and no luck. I was running Vista 64bit before and it ran fine.
Hi Jeff,
If your X3 was good then X4 will. And Win 7 Ultimate would work.I have Win 7 PRO 64 bit myself.
There might be something else causing the error then.X4 should install on your machine as well.
When Corel in Canada and the rest of USA wake up, (Im in Sweden) more people will probably notice this post, and especially some Corel employees working in Canada, who might have a good suggestion and solving the issue. I will even send a link about this post to one Corel person especially.Ps. I DONT work at Corel, but I have a contact. Just so you dont ask me to "Corel-ish" questions ;-)

But do see this as a temporary solution, Because you will be able to use X4 on Win 7 Ultimate. Promiss. I just dont remember what could be your specific issue to solve.
You will have to make a setting in BIOS and then other things, but you can start to check this Microsoft page about this very thing.http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

I've been using X4 on a Win7 x64 computer for the last few months without problems, installing from the original DVD and then upgrading to the latest Service Pack / Hot fix. There is no need to use the compatibility mode nor install as an administrator. I suppose you have followed the instructions in the read-me file to disable the anti-virus software (some are conflicting the installation)?
I would recommend you contact the Corel technical support as we provide free support for installation problems - http://www.corel.com/contactus

I am also running X4 on a Windows7 64Bit system and it works great. No problems at all. It even seems to run better on this system than on XP
You see Jeff,There is always a solution. Gérard rocks! Period ;-)
