I've been reading on the unleashed site and some other "magazines" about plug-ins for Corel that make it possible to create embroidery files from corel files. They all sound great...one or two stand out...but since I'm just learning of the embroidery side of the business I design for (right now I submit to outside source for embroidery digitizing) and I'm primarily familiar with cutting and screenprinting...I'm not sure if there is a reputable plug-in/add-on available that works well with PUNTO. Does anyone have any experience and/or knowledge they'd care to share in this area?
Thanks for sharing your time!

Punto is the embroidery digitizing program the company I work for uses. Would there be a way to find out all the different formats that can be output by the DecoStudio product? Given Corel's amazing variety of file types I'm sure Deco can cover most all...but I'd like to know anyway.
ALSO, after following your link...I saw that "qualified software owners" can get a 50% trade in...so that would make the program just under 1k? Guessing Punto may be one of those qualifiers...sorry for all the questions. I'm a one-person design team...and it just doesn't make sense to me to have the excessive turn-around and digitizing fee for outsourcing...so I'm very excited about this possibility BUT have to have the right tools to make the recommendation cohesively to my employer.
Hi,
I'm sure Punto does DST, it is virtually the industry standard for embroidery. BUT, two free utilities will allow you to convert between virtually every embroidery format in existance.

A very good FREE embroidery digitizing package that can directly import CorelDRAW files is Stitch ERA Universal. It is the same as the Stitch ERA commercial package but limited to 40,000 stitches per design. You can download it from a SEU dealer or buy a CD. I bought the CD ($14.99) since it comes with training videos.

Great bit of extra info! Thank you! Maybe I can ease my way in to educate myself, then purchasing will have an added value for my employers rather than paying for a learning curve too. :o)
oh well on the qualifying part...but that's a great idea the way they do it! I'm sold, just have to get the powers that be sold too...so have some self-education to do, and it's in the bag. The more they can bring in house the better off we all are. (job security for me...lower cost for them)
