I know that X4 isn't supposed to work with Windows 10 and I have run across some minor glitches (mostly cosmetic) until now. I have a number of drawings I have done over the years and occasionally I like to post them to relevant discussion forums on the Internet (one of which I administer) . In the past (when I was on Win 7) I would export the cdr to a transparent .png. Worked fine.
But since migrating to Win 10, I can no longer get a transparent background when i export to png. White is the default background and when I choose white to be transparent, everything seems as it should be and has been. But the result is not transparent at all the white background is still there.
Is ther a work around, an updated p.ng filter or any way to get a transparent background from CorelDraw X4 on Windows 10?
This should be all you need to do. You do have to ensure there isn't a shape behind it i.e. a white square etc.
I'm not sure I understand...It's just a drawing no background at all. Even if I move it off the "page" and try to export it, I get the same issue.
Eskimo,
Did you have a chance to look at the zipped files I posted?
And out of curiosity, why is it when I click on "CorelDraw X4 Graphics Suite > CorelDraw X4--where this thread is supposed to be, it doesn't show up in the list of threads? Are people even seeing it?

Yes, I have looked at them.
I don't have X4 (closest I have is X5), and I've only tested so far on Windows 7.
I didn't see anything that looked like any sort of "non-transparent" background in those files, and they exported OK as transparent PNG files.
Tested on X4 (14.0.0.701) and X5 on Win7 with no problem - background transparent
Need someone to test using X4 and Windows 10.
Myron, Eskimo, Mek,
Thank you all for your time and consideration. The problem is solved.
Turns out it was my forum software--phpBB-- sometime ago I added an extension called Lightbox. If I posted a small enough transparent png, it displayed transparent. If the drawing was too large, Lightbox made a thumbnail of it. and the default background for that thumb was white. So the transparency was working but like your post above, Mek it was black (greyscale) lines against white). Since my forum background is tan, I expected it to be lines against tan. Because it wasn't I though the transparency wasn't working.
Thanks is due to several members of the phpBB forum who zero'd in on the problem right away.
But again, for the time and consideration you gave me and this problem, thank you. I appreciate it.
