Is corel draw x4 supporting Mac OS 10.5........?
The short answer is no. The long answer is difficult, however as an output provider since the beginning of time today I'm seeing fewer and fewer MAC files in my work. As IT support we are seeing Apple laptops being used quite a bit but they are only running Windows on them.
Thanks for ur kind reply sir. But if I want to buy corel draw for MAX OS 10.5 which is the most suitable one & will it be available in the ASIAN markets...?

I totally agree with you.
FosterCoburn said:The answer is quite simple, there was so few Mac sales that it wasn't justified to develop new Mac versions.
The answer is not so simple. I know several companies that still use CorelDRAW 11 on Mac, altough uses CorelDRAW X4 under PC and there's no real way to know how much CorelDRAW 11 users have isntalled the program on Mac on both systems. Mac is a small marketplace ( recently, their sales increases from 4.5% to 5.2% of the total marketplace) but is a very special marketplace for professional graphic design. If the problem were only the small marketplace, you can't explain why Corel develop a Mac version for Painter. The answer is obvious, CorelPainter works fine on Mac and is a success, but CorelDRAW never worked fine on Mac as native program.
The problem is more complex, is not only about to want to develop a new version, also is about the software compatibilities (ie, the .NET framework, Visual Basic and Visual Studio, etc) and the company policies. Altough the v.11.0 was "the same installation" for Mac and Windows, the results was not the same. bitstream FontNavigator doesn't manage Mac fonts, then don't auto-install it when you open a document. You can't use the VBA macros, one of the more useful and powerful options of CorelDRAW. Most of the commands are different because it causes conflict with Mac OS shortcuts. So, you will use a half or less of the CorelDRAW power, and you have a slow and porr software, if you compare the same with the Windows version.
If CorelDRAW comes to Mac, must develop a new, totally new native Mac OS X version. Older CorelDRAW for Mac are the Windows software translated to Mac (I remember the v.8.0 for Mac, a nightmare) but don't works fine. But develop a new and powerful CorelDRAW for Mac requires a lot of time, effort and money, and sounds logical to use this resources to create a powerful and stable Windows version before move to the dark side.

Remember that the Corellians are part important on the technology on StarWars, the homeworld of Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon. We, the Corel Jedi, are the Light Side of the Force
Jeff Harrison said:Now here's a provocative question: Would Apple even exist today if they hadn't created the ipod?
I'm no doubt about the answer: yes. Mac is a lifestyle more than a computer. Like Harley-Davidson, Ferrari and other companies. But the return of Steve Jobs changes all, the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iTunes, the OS X...
Jeff Harrison said:So... my point is this: the people that insist that mac's are the greatest computers ever, are they speaking primarily based on technical merits or because they like the way the curvy & futuristic hardware looks? Or also how the O/S looks?
Mac is the best computer on all sides. Powerful and beauty. You enjoy when using this computer, both for their beauty and their power. Of course is expensive, but if you see the differences you can understand that is not the same. With Windows 32-bits you can't use 4 Gb of RAM or assign mor than 2 Gb of memory of each program, you need the 64-bits version in order to use more than 4 Gb of RAM. A Mac Pro comes with 32 Gb of RAM, 4 Terabytes of hard disk, and you don't have hardware or software issues for this...

Ok let's for the sake of argument say we all agree on your above points. Then why is the MAC so unpopular?
Ariel said:the iMac, iPod, iPhone, iTunes, the OS X...
With all of this why do Apple product languish at such a sales level as we currently see?
I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm trying to understand what went wrong with Apple.
From my perspective all of their products are faulty, iMAC (lousy computer underpowered), iPOD viruses, my sons wife lost all her music, iPhone of all the phones known to be vulnerable to SMS viruses only Apple did nothing to repair the situation, iTunes, I make more money fixng systems with iTunes installed then any other single non-graphic software.
David Milisock said:Then why is the MAC so unpopular?
You believe that is not popular, prhaps you don't use it and you don't need it, But Apple is one of the brands with more loyalty from its users, and is one of the brands and causes greater passion. Nor are there many Ferrari or Harley also, but who has one loves it.

...but from the perspective of other companies, all that make Apple is a success or at least can have a lot of sales. Apple show a new cellular phone, with tactil display, icons and other features, very expensive and no more useful than other cellular phones... but a lot of people around the world want to hav an iPhone. Then, other companies develops their own models "like an iPhone".
Apple shown a stylized model of computer, and some months ater other companies develop a similar concept. Windows itself is a copy of Mac OS, the Vista and Win7 lateral bar is a copy of the Mac Dashboard, the weather information of Windows, clock and more is the same of the Dashboard Widget of Mac. Same for the Yahoo Widgets. Good or bad, Mac is original and other companies only want to copy all that Apple do.
Sometimes is not so original, there was a lot of mp3 player previous to the iPod, but now most people use iPod as a synonymous of MP3 player. Sometimes is not a success, some models did not function as expected or were failures in sales. But it seems that everyone is waiting to see what Apple does to imitate.
On Europe, you can't find any service bureau or prepress company that don't have a Mac. Perhaps you will find a company that don't use PC but all have a Macintosh computer. Some years ago, the Mac workd was a "closed space" but now is almost the same of other computer (usb ports, same hardware, same printers...). Of course, you don't need a Mac for a good job. If I win the lottery I don't buy a Mac, with that money I bought at least three powerful PC. Surely a lot of people want to have a Ferrari, but nobody would buy a Ferrari to deliver packages and mail. For work, the best choice is the most simple, easy and fast, not the luxury
Ariel said:You believe that is not popular, prhaps you don't use it and you don't need it,
Actually I'm forced to deal with it all the time, which is why I know the technical issues. When counting the number of units on the street LG sells about 3 times the number of phones that Apple does, LG is the smallest of the phone manufacturers. They advertise the sales in dollars, so that it looks like more because Apple people will pay anything for an Apple device, Blackberry and other sell many more units and have no virus issues.
Ariel said:Apple is one of the brands with more loyalty from its users, and is one of the brands and causes greater passion. Nor are there many Ferrari or Harley also, but who has one loves it.
I understand the point I just do not see thequality or techncial reasons for such loyalty. I ride motorcycles, Harleys are terrible, MACs are ok for light duty work, iPhones are not for business. Stylish for sure but better not in a very long time.
Ariel said:Windows itself is a copy of Mac OS,
I agree Apple was original, I have had Apple computers, Windows did it better, since 1996 the PC has been more powerful, much less expensive, universally compatible and since XP plug and play actually works on the PC no so on the MAC. I built a Dual core PC for a RIP with 3 GIGS of RAM and a 500 GB hard disk for $500, it runs our 54" Roland VersaWorks.
Ariel said:On Europe, you can't find any service bureau or prepress company that don't have a Mac.
In the U.S. you can't find service bureaus any more, every industry based on the MAC is in it's death throws. Public School systems are dropping MACS like hot potatoes, the print graphics industry is dying, the sign business runs on PC. 95% of all RIPS do not have MAC versions.
The world of the MAC is not what it would seem in their advertising. I was at the Sign Shows in Baltimore and in Atlantic City, not one Apple computer at either show, not one booth promoting Adobe either thank God!
Wow! Who knew? Thanks for the update David. I find the Mac hardware ok... but about the only use I have for the software that's bundled with their OS is their DVD stuff... where I don't need a special codec, as in Windows Media Player, just to play a DVD. I run the Windows OS's (XP & VISTA) 99.9% of the time doing everything from soup to nuts in SMALL BUSINESS SERVICES... graphics, spreadsheets, taxes, lots of email and browser work, specialty audio processing, web work., digital photos, etc.

Yes that's a fall out of the antitrust litigation against MS.
I was really disappointed that Apple didn't write an OS that could compete on the Intel/AMD platform. We could use the competition to sharpen up the MS boys.
To me using hardware or software is purely a mathematics thing, I add up pros and subtract cons and make my choices from there. Style with limited function has limited value to me.
With that said I do make some nice billings fixing machine with iTunes loaded, it works fine until the library gets huge, then look out.
