Hi,
Currently we are using coreldraw X3. We have Lenovo Core2duo processor with 4GB of RAM. whenever we open file (5/10MB) its taking around 5mts to open. its damn slow.Is there any options or patches to increase the performance?.Can we able to upgrade to Corel X4if availble?. Is its a free upgrade?.
Regards,Shivkumar.
Whith this computer, Corel must start in a few seconds. Try this:
- if you have more than 400 installed fonts, uninstall all as possible
- Check your View docker (Ctrl+F2) and if there's some "views" saved, delete it
- Check you Styles docker (Ctrl+F5) and delete unused styles (you only need the 3 default styles) and save the Template (in the same docker) and also, save as default for new documents
- Change the default printer in the system. Sometimes, the program check the printers when start, and this must take time if the printer os off or is not present.
My corel work very very slow, i installed 1700 fonts in my system, but i cant understand what is the relation between copy, paste and fonts.

My god! 1700 fonts! I never used more than 200, and believe that I use a lot of fonts on differenent jobs. But you never need all the fonts at the same time, the only reason for have to have as many font is laziness of unistall and reinstall (altough Font Navigator do it automatically).
Look at the Macintosh users. Mac users boast and boast that their hardware and operating system is superior. But on the Mac there's never more than 40 fonts. When you do a job, only are activated the necessary fonts, with Extensis Suitcase for example, and upon completion will be deactivated. Usually, all are turned off when you restart. Why on Windows are installed hundreds and hundreds, sometimes thousands? The traditional limit of 720 fonts for Windows is just a nightmare... FontNavigator warns us if we installed more than 400 fonts, and I've never seen anyone that really uses more than one hundred at the same time, even with multiple jobs. The problem is that we are lazy to install and then remove, so we prefer to accumulate fonts, until one day our system collapses.
If your systema says 1700 perhaps you have 2400, 3000 or more... Windows can't manage this amount of fonts. Also, you open your Windows / fonts folder, and olay have 1200... but after a few minutes, the system shows 2800. Or sometimes, if you have 1200 and delete 200, you believe that only remains 1000, but when you go to Windows / fonts folder, there're 1800 now! (because the system has a little more free memory)

Tha answer is called Styles. Every time to select, copy, move or change any font, CorleDRAW must check all the styles, and check all the available fonts. If you have 200 installed fonts, and only the styles that are in use, the process is one instant. But is you have a lot of fonts, it's a nightmare
