Recently had problematic re-install of both X3 and X5. Finally succeeded in sequential numeric order (i.e. first X3 and then X5). However now, CONNECT X5 no longer displays CDR vector file thumbnails. Currently CDRs are associated with X3. Is that the possible cause? What else might be contributing to this problem?
Thanks for any and all ideas!
Happy New Year!
Put the X5 DVD in the drive and when the install menu appears, choose Repair. This will fix your file associations and perhaps even restore the thumbnail preview (that may be casued by the Corel Windows Shell extension.)
Hi Hugh!
V-wha-lah! Say Magnifiqué!!! THANK YOU! You make it look easy, Sir! Thumbnails are restored!
Have a great 2011!
You're welcome. And you have a great year, too.
I have the same issue with Connectx5, and tried your solution, but still no thumbnails, just the Corel logo. any other suggestions?
Same here. Connect is rendered virtually useless because of this. sigh
If you have Windows Vista or 7 check 'Folder Options'. On the View tab there is a checkbox "Always show icons, never thumbnails".
If it's checked, uncheck it, click Ok and see if it solves your problem.
Hope it helps
Yeah, I thought about that. We are still on XP (I know, don't tell me) and really I just want CONNECT to work with thumbnails--I mean, isn't that the point?! Corel is just a very tiny part of my work flow on a normal basis and I don't want thumbnails for everything in Explorer.
Thanks, though. I appreciate your feedback!
