Quite often, but not always, my Corel CONNECT Progam won't start! From time to time I have circumvented this problem by just doing a RESTART.
I am using Windows7 and after I load CONNECT, it will bring up the CONNECT start screen, then immediately another winow appears which does a bit of testing then gives the message that "Corel Connect is not working and will now close down"
If I really need CONNECT I then have to do a computer RESTART before I can use it. Which is obviously a bit inconvenient because the whole computer has to close down and re-load everything!
Are there any "program patches" available to stop this?
I
So, connect will run once, but not twice? Or are there circumstances where connect will not run, even though it has not already run since the last reboot?
If it always runs the first time, then it sounds as if it may not be exiting properly. Many programs will not let you run two copies at the same time, so if a previous instance does not close properly it can be impossible to start again. But if you can identify the connect process in the windows task manager, you should be able to terminate it there.
Perhaps somebody with X5 could give the name of the connect process, which will make it easier to find.
Meanwhile, you may find that it is sufficient to log off rather than do a total reboot. It is still a nuisance, but takes less time and should terminate any processes started by the current user.
Hello Harry London,
Thanks for your reply!
Things have changed a bit!
I can't get Connect to work at all now, not even after a re-boot - I don't know why - I haven't done anything except to try to run Connect every so often! I've tried loading the program from the desktop, form CorelDRAW, CorelPHOTOPAINT and from the basic programs menu. All the same!
Soon after Connect loads, almost immediately a little window opens and it says, "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available" It then gives me one option - to close program.
I ghave a feeling in me water that there is something going on in Windows7, although I have recently loaded the latest Windows patches I'll have another go and see if I can find something.
Incidentally, I'm a bit of an artist, I ain't very good at poking about with computer programs.
Regards Don Mann
Do you have the three service packs for CorelDRAW X5 installed?
Good Morning Hugh,
It looks as though I only have Service Pack 1 installed!
This morning I clicked on a button that said "updates" and after a few moments it said my CorelDraw was up to date!!!
There is a time difference between California and the UK, so you are probably in bed asleep just now, so in the meantime, I'll have a poke about and see if I can get hold of any more "Service Packs", or whatever else I can find!
Tghanks for your e-letter.
Don Mann
