I have Corel PhotoPaint X5 running on Windows 7 x64. Every time I save a jpg or jpeg file, the file cannot be shared and appears with a padlock on the bottom left hand corner. To be able to share it, I have to go to the properties of every individual photo and add "Everyone" to the permissions in the Security Tab. Other files save OK. Its only jpg/jpeg files that get locked. Anyone have any ideas how to solve this annoying problem?
Does anyone know if this been resolved? I run into this every day now. My Corel X5 will suddenly not allow me to save one kind of file or another.
I can't work like this.
The only way I have found around this in Windows 7 is to go to the properties of C:\Users\(Your user name - Fred, Michael or whatever) and make the Security of that folder and all under it as see'able by Everyone. Then there is no longer a problem with Corel locking the files.
I'll try that, thank you! Last night I installed X3 just to get some work done. Missed my X5 immediately.
Thanks again! I'll post again this evening to mention if I ran into any trouble with this suggestion.
So far it doesn't seem to be doing the trick. X3 still works like a champ, though.
Perhaps it is not the same problem. With me, I'll have a CPT open, and I want to save or export it as a PNG or a JPG or a GIF. It works fine for a while, but then suddenly it will go through the motions of saving, but the file is never made. If I try to then open it in recent files, it says it can't find it.
The only thing out of the ordinary with my Windows 7 platform is that my root drive is an SSD. Other than that, very vanilla machine.
Worked fine up until recently, then stops working, starts again, stops. I uninstalled Corel X5, re-installed it. Then installed my old X3. Now I"m wondering if I shouldn't format the whole computer and try a fresh install.
Very frustrating.
Seems you have a different problem than me. Mine was just the lock on saved files which I have solved the way I explained.
I also have an SSD, a 520GB SSD for my C: drive but I don't get the problems you describe. Might be you have some corruption in the operating system - perhaps the registry.
