I used to have a DeltaE calculator which I downloaded free from the Internet, but it does not seem to be available any longer.
The idea was to type in the Lab specification for two colour samples, then the calculator would come up with the difference between them expressed in units of Delta E.
I have found a calculator which requires Photoshop CS, but I cannot locate a free-standing version.
Have you tried doing a search for --- Delta E software free ot "Delta E" calculator free
Jack,
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, that was one of the first searches I made on Google, but I could find only calculators which worked on Macs or which required PhotoshopCS or AIR (whatever that is).
There used to be a DeltaE calculator which was free, and free-standing, but which seems no longer to be available.
Hi Gareth,
just as a temporary measure, here is an online calculator:
http://www.brucelindbloom.com/index.html?ColorDifferenceCalc.html
If you want one of the ones you found which requires Adobe AIR, just go to www.adobe.com and download Adobe AIR, it is free. It is only like downloading Silverlight from Microsoft. In the meantime I will keep searching and see if I can find anything.
Best regards,Brian.
Hi again Gareth,
are you wanting it to work with Photo-Paint or CorelDraw? I can probably make a macro which pops up a Delta E calculator inside of either of those programs. If interested let me know.
Brian,
Many thanks! I did not know that the AIR was free and that anyone could download it. That might prove to be the answer for me. I shall look forward to trying it out this evening.
Thanks also for the offer to make a macro for me. I am still using CorelDraw10 and for some reason never got macros to work with it, either in CorelDraw or in Photo-Paint. But perhaps I should try the AIR first and think again only if I cannot get that to work.
Looks promising!
