Photo Paint question

You all are probably pros.  I am definitely not.  I do a newsletter for our country club and want to put a picture of our club at the top with a gradient fade out at the bottom.  I've searched everywhere in Photo Paint and can't find anything which would allow me to do this.  Under effects, creative, I've found "frame" and "vignette" which will allow me to do some sort of effects, but not what I'm looking for.  Any suggestions?  Are there other programs which I can buy that would accomplish the same thing????

Any help would be monstrously appreciated.  Thanks so much.

Like a baner or a gradient all the way from the top of the page to the bottom?

    • Hi Donna.

Select the Rectangle Mask Tool and set the Feather edge value.

Another option is the Object Transparency Tool.

Note: Press Ctrl key to control the angle of fading.

      • Here's an alternative method:

        1. Click 'Object > Create > from background' or click the button on the Objects docker.
        2. Select the Transparency tool from the toolbar.
        3. Drag from the point on the image where you want the transparency to start to the bottom edge of the image. Keep the CTRL key pressed while you do this to make sure the fade stays parallel to the bottom of the image. Adjust the mid-point to vary how the fade looks.
        4. Merge with the background (CTRL + down arrow) and save.
