Hi, i have a question about circles can you make a circle with a color in the middle fading out to tranparent? so basically i want say a purple circle then towards the edges of the circle transparent. thanks
Jack, I can't get that image, If the black or white square is in the center, the result is the same, The color is ALWAYS on the outside with the transparency on the inside.

Jack, even with extra nodes added, it is still a case of black end being the transparency end:
If you want the center to be solid, and fade out to the edge, then the square at the middle has to be white, and the square at the edge has to be black.
You may want to increase the edge pad value to get a softer edge. You can also play around with the mid-point.
when i do it it comes out like this the white area that fades into the red is where the black box is.
By default the center square is black and peripheral square is white.
Seems like you are dragging the black square out to the edge rather than swap the color.
The quick way to change the color of the square is by dragging the color from the palette to the square.
In this case, drag the white color and drop it on the black square, and drag the black color and drop it on the white square.
Or, the slower way, change the color in the Fountain Transparency properties:
