This is not a blue screen of death issue. I was using a 30day trial version of CorelDarw x5 and recently purchased the full version of CoelDraw with a serial number. Though the trial period was not over we received an error message saying memory was full so we decided to purchase the full version.
Along with the error message we received a light blue screen every time we clicked on the CorelDraw screen. After removing the trial version and installing the purchased version it still gives us a light blue screen when clicking on the screen. It does not do this for the desktop, and I am able to select icons and the navigation bar. However, the blue screen makes it difficult to proceed. This issue has only happened in the past two days. We have tried restarting the computer, uninstaling and reinstaling, and running the repair function. Help would greatly be appreciated. This is for CorelDraw Graphic Suite X5 to be run on a windows 8 laptop.
I was told when making the purchase that this software could be used on multiple computers. I installed it on a widows 7 desktop computer and the program runs perfectly. Assistance would greatly be appreciated.
I have the same problem with Coreldraw 3 in windows 8.1: a light blue screen covering all the desktop flashes when running the program, then it goes away, but comes back as soon as I start using the program. This light blue screen even stays on top of other programs as well and goes away only if I close the coreldraw program..... Asus motherboard and Nvidia video card. Any advice? Thank you

I presume you meant X3 ? Version 3 is 21 years old.
X3 is itself quite old now but Microsoft has some suggestions for running older programs at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-8/older-programs-compatible-version-windows
I'm not sure if this applies fully to windows 8.1 but it is probably similar.
This is an old thread but I also have a client using Windows 8.1 with Tech Suite X6 that turns blue, only when you open Corel. You can minimize it and work in other programs and the blue tinted screen disappears. I am going to attempt having my client update his video card, but this was on a Sony laptop for reference. Just wanted to throw this out there to see if anyone ever found a solution. We tried to run in compatibility mode for XP SP3, but that did not help either. Is the issue Corel or Windows 8.1, or both? Here is how it appears in Photo-Paint. Makes it a bit tough to edit a photo!
I still have the same problem. Minimizing it does not help. I do all of my work in CorelDraw 11, save it. Open it in X5, where it immediately turns blue. Since I already created it in Corel 11, I don't have to see it well, so I save it as an X5 file, export it as an Illustrator file, then open it in Illustrator.
It's ridiculous. I upgraded all of my programs and windows to make my work easier and faster and it's done the opposite. Everyone I've contacted blames it on the other programs. I've been told that Corel X5 is too old to work with Windows 8, but Corel 11 - a MUCH older version - works fine.
VERY frustrated, any suggestions are welcome.
With further testing I found that running the program in compatibility mode for XP SP3 was this person's issue. We were trying to run it in compatibility mode for other reasons, and as soon as we ran it in the normal Win8 workspace it was fine, no more blue screen. I just wanted to share in case it could help someone else.
So one recommendation may be to try running Corel in all the different compatibility modes (XP, Vista, Win7 etc). And if an automatic update screwed something up in Windows, try the F8 restart trick to see if restoring the workspace to factory defaults does it. My last idea is update the video driver on the computer with the newest available for your model.
