ok, finally went to install and update X6 via the internet. what a drag/problem I knew this would be... so here goes.
Installed the intial X6 fine, got email for 90 days tech support etc..I guess it activated and sent serial to my account/corel. ..went to update to 6.1...seemed to install fine... seemed to see something about getting a STANDARD membership. So figured..ok...going great... well.... went to install 6.2 and the problem started.
now it says I don't have a level of membership or something? cannot install 6.2 or the hotfix after.
I will contact customer support when I get a moment, but wondering if anybody knows why this is happening. such a drag jumping through hoops just to UPDATE my software. I don't care about the extra MEMBER features...I want the FIXES...which should install if member status is FINE or NOT FINE.
I might just stick with X5 as it is working fine...i.e. doesn't BOMB when UPDATING TEXT of prior version files, new way of powerclip annoyance etc.
Like Stefan says, check your Corel account and see what serial number has been activated for X6.Chances are that you have used the wrong password or something when trying to activate X6.2, and therefore Corel doesn't recognize you.
Hmmm, How can I fix this?
Not knowing how Corel's new Membership thing worked, I installed CorelDraw X6 on my system at work using the boxed version our company bought. When I signed in I used my personal email address because I didn't want my Corel email blocked by the company spam filter (which sometimes happens).
Afterward, I bought CorelDraw X6 for use at home, and I used my personal email again.
What I would like to do is have the work installation refer to my work email address. How do I change the default email address related to the copy I have on my work system? Or does it even matter?
Thanks
I don't think it matters, Frank.
If you already have installed both and they work, then everything is fine.Without knowing, I suspect you have to contact Corel to split your account in two.
Hope this is in the right place, but I have a issue with membership & updates. I've been a Corel user since ver 2. I'm sitting with a bit of a dilemma. I now teach (for free) graphics to youngsters and silver surfers in a small village just up the road from where I live in Wales. The problem is I have 10 workstations with ligit Corel X6 + PhotoShop which have no internet access or the ability to connect whatsoever as they are to far from the exchange. How the heck am I supposed to update/patch Corel if none of the units have the ability to connect to the internet. This community spent allot of hard earned money to purchase their software and it looks as if I am going to stop teaching just because corel decided we have to be members to download anything .... Just because I purchased a peugeot doesn't mean I have to become a member to drive it or get it serviced .... I'm really upset

Now,
We were not able to update before either if we did not have an internet connection. We always had to go online, download the SP and install it. I believe I read an official recomendation by Corel about this situation of yours. No worries as it will possible.
Its still holiday season for Corel in Canada

That's not fair. The customer service MUST work in shifts, 24 hours a day, every day of the year, whether holidays or not.
At least, in Brazil, that's how big companies who have respect for their users work.
Canada is really a first world country?
Hello Silvio; Canada and the US and some other countries take some of the Holidays off, Now the US takes more Holidays than any of them I guess, you can't even mail a letter on the days some people were born/died. It does give the working people something to look forward to. ( To me every day is a holiday But one thing that I don't understand is How can people post here and not be able to get the updates because of no internet? I think I would down load the update to a thumb drive or DVD using my account with Corel and load it on the computer Corel is on and run the update.
My Thoughts George

When I learnet that people in the USA still use Phone modem for their internet I was surprised. I am not surprised anymore people not able to download ;-)
But I believe Gérard at Corel wrote an explanation for these particular situations. But he and Corel is back in business in january I believe.
Silvio, SWEDEN is slowing down business quite a lot for many companies, so called "industrial vacation" in july. And second half of june and first half of august its really slow. Its the summer.
Hello Stefan; Yea there are a lot of people that use dial up for the net in the USA. Here at the sign shop we got WiFi a year ago, and had DSL for about 5 years before that, so up to 6 years ago we had to use a dial up modem. ( And we are in a city.) With so many homes ( In the billions ) it takes time to get around to everyone ( The phone co. gets holidays to ) but even with dial up you could still get the net, it's just a lot slower, and with dial up you still have to pay a fee for the URL service. It is easy to forget the hours of time it took to down load a small file much less a big file, and you can't use the phone to talk on when you are using dial up. ( I don't have a cell phone my self, no body want's to talk to me anyway

I believe it was 10+ years ago or so, when the politicians in my town (the liberals as you would call them) , Stockholm, SWEDEN who quite pragmatically said private businesses wont be able to build all the infrastructure to all and everyone in the time frame/speed businesses and people need it. It would take to many and looong years. So they made a decision to help out an dstarted to build the infrastructure so that ALL companies could offer and compete with the services and prices, instead of at the time just a few private companies who basically owned the market. And they understood that a high tech country like sweden needs hightech solutions and speed of internet.
Its in Sweden for example SKYPE comes from, sold to ebay and later microsoft.
I totally understand you can only build so much, sometimes though its great when the politicians and municipalities and private enterprices work together. The politicians and the state do not run internet, they just helped speeding up the building of the infrastructure. Its now all runned by private business. We would have not had so great internet if it wasnt for that decision, or part of it anyway,
I still have a phone modem but in a plastic grocery bag with some cables, ready for the museum I guess :-)
When I go for coffee outside at cafés and on work trip, I use my smartphone wifi/3G as a antenna.

Have you accidentally been filling your coffee mug with alcohol again, George? LOL. The population of the USA is only around 315 million. Hmm, what sketch can I come up with for you?
just a wild guess...but my problem may very well be Comodo Firewall? I was having some real problems getting Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and After Effects CS6 to even load... read a bunch of thread...then instead of trying to find the block, I figured to just UNINSTALL Comodo. well...doing so, WORKED.
I also had a problem getting QuickBooks Premier 2013 to activate... so after uninstalling Comodo Firewall, it worked!
ok, so now the question to "myself"...should I install X6 and see if my activation works? Or just leave X5 which I KNOW works perfectly fine?
thanks for the help guys...I may have to try ZoneAlarm or go back to my Norton Internet Security Suite (comes with Comcast subscription and has always worked perfect)...only problem..WIndows 8 has built in Antivirus and Firewall. I hear could be conflict problems with Antivirus. I just wish the Windows 8 firewall had built in easy OUTGOING notices so I can choose to BLOCK or ALLOW.
EDIT:
UPDATE: Well.. installed X6 again, still a NO GO! (Unable to verify your product status) UGGGH! Looks like I will still have to get on the horn with corel tech support after new year to get my X6 activated correctly JUST so I can get the v6.2 and HOTFIX updates!!!!! : (
What sucks is that X5 "supposedly" isn't compatible with Windows 8 ...but seems to be working ok so far...but not holding my breath...waiting for an explosion or something when working in it. I know CorelCapture won't start... not sure about the rest. I really need X6.2+hotfix in Windows 8...I sure hope Corel can help with this user login/authorization CRAP. I am pretty much SHUT DOWN due to this. I ntice with only the 6.1 updates... X6 bombs a LOT!!!!!
