ok, finally went to install and update X6 via the internet. what a drag/problem I knew this would be... so here goes.
Installed the intial X6 fine, got email for 90 days tech support etc..I guess it activated and sent serial to my account/corel. ..went to update to 6.1...seemed to install fine... seemed to see something about getting a STANDARD membership. So figured..ok...going great... well.... went to install 6.2 and the problem started.
now it says I don't have a level of membership or something? cannot install 6.2 or the hotfix after.
I will contact customer support when I get a moment, but wondering if anybody knows why this is happening. such a drag jumping through hoops just to UPDATE my software. I don't care about the extra MEMBER features...I want the FIXES...which should install if member status is FINE or NOT FINE.
I might just stick with X5 as it is working fine...i.e. doesn't BOMB when UPDATING TEXT of prior version files, new way of powerclip annoyance etc.
Like Stefan says, check your Corel account and see what serial number has been activated for X6.Chances are that you have used the wrong password or something when trying to activate X6.2, and therefore Corel doesn't recognize you.
Hmmm, How can I fix this?
Not knowing how Corel's new Membership thing worked, I installed CorelDraw X6 on my system at work using the boxed version our company bought. When I signed in I used my personal email address because I didn't want my Corel email blocked by the company spam filter (which sometimes happens).
Afterward, I bought CorelDraw X6 for use at home, and I used my personal email again.
What I would like to do is have the work installation refer to my work email address. How do I change the default email address related to the copy I have on my work system? Or does it even matter?
Thanks
timd1971 said:ok, so now the question to "myself"...should I install X6 and see if my activation works? Or just leave X5 which I KNOW works perfectly fine?
HI.
I'd go for it, but if you think you might have and issue, it will cost you money, and you will need tech support, then hold off until they reopen.
timd1971 said:.I may have to try ZoneAlarm or go back to my Norton Internet Security Suite (comes with Comcast subscription and has always worked perfect)...only problem..WIndows 8 has built in Antivirus and Firewall.
I use both. I prefer the Norton. I buy a year license and can run on 3 computers. I put this on the most important computers. All of the other computer in the house use the free Zone Alarm.

well, finally got an answer from Corel... obviously the X6 package I purchased from a so-called reputable HIGH POSITIVE FEEDBACK seller obviously scammed me. Maybe Paypal refund is an option but not counting on it. all in all the serial in the package wasn't a "corel-generated" serial so no wonder I couldn't do anything. whatever...done with this friggn mess....

Hello,
Really sorry to hear about this scam.
I wouldnt mind mentioning these scammers on my blog. If you have a link on ebay where you bought it, I wouldnt mind pointing to therir ebay account either. And if you happen to have a photo of the box and so forth, that you can post here, I could use that photo as well. I would then place it on my blogs, the swedish language blog as well as the english language blog..
It would actually be quite interesting to compare a Scammers box with an offical Corel Box
And defintely PayPal should be notified by you. Hope you get your money back. And Yes, scammers in the Piracy market are pro´s many times. Way before internet hit the scene prior to 1997 when more annd more ordinary people got computers at home, piracy of goods have always been there. And NOT only in certain countries. Its a widespred sickness.
Hope you didnt have to pay to much for this box version
Again, this is the reason I am very vary on where I buy stuff.
EDIT: I have know written a blog post about this subject. Not mentioning YOU, but a general text. Read here anyone interested http://canvas.nu/stefanlindblad-blog/?p=752

yeah, when I get a chance, I'll upload some photos etc. I did the PayPal claim thing and didn't get any money back due to it was past 45 days. I bought it a few months back with the intention of installing when I upgraded to Windows 8 last week or so. So far with all the updates, X5 is actually working fine under Windows 8 Pro, even though a COMPATIBILITY problem is noted... only thing so far that DOES NOT work with Windows 8 Pro is CorelCapture (used with WhatTheFont unfortunately, but can manually use that anyways). I like how the Windows Compatibilty program (used before upgrading) says an update is available for X5 and is basically a link to CorelDraw X6 to BUY for $200 upgrade or $500 full.
Hello timd; Sorry you didn't get your money back. If you need to make a copy of something you could use the "PrtScn" key at the top of the key board, then crop it in CorelDRAW. Even with the $200.00 up grade price it's not to bad considering. Just bite the bullet and as Corel to gift rap it in $100 bills for you.
Hang In There, George
