CorelDraw X6 and PhotoPaint X6 are crashing on start-up (while the splash screen is present), with this message "CorelDraw X6 (64-bit) has stopped working" and "Corel PhotoPaint X6 (64-bit) has stopped working".
It was working fine a few weeks ago, but has since started doing this. I've gone back to a previous restore point and then re-installed the package several times, switching off everything I can think of, including my anti-virus package, but I get the same problem straight away - from the very first time I try to start CorelDraw or PhotoPaint. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
What should I do to get it working again?
I'll try everything suggested so far, and then report back :-)
Everything is 64-bit.
I'm making some progress. CorelDraw does start consistently if I run Windows using its "diagnostic startup" (set using the System Configuration utility). That suggests the problem is being caused by a service, in which case a process of elimination is my next step, as described in Windows online help topic "Run Selective Startup using System Configuration".
Your investigation suggests that something new was installed in last few weeks that is now causing the problem. You can investigate one thing at a time but start with anything new in last 3 weeks or when it last was working OK.
Try to remember any new installs or windows updates? or any AV updates etc. Or look in your AV settings to see if you can make all Corel stuff on a "white" list of being OK and no need to check it.
Maybe do a system restore to 3 weeks ago or more. Look at the system restore list to see what was a recent install etc.
Good luck, it may take perseverence.
Problem solved!
After a thorough search through Windows services, I have identified the problem is my anti-virus package: Panda Global Protection 2012. Thinking this might be the problem, I had already configured it to ignore all parts of my Corel packages, but obviously that wasn't enough to prevent its interference. All Panda services work fine except one: "PandaTPSrv", which when enabled causes the problem. It is entirely repeatable - switched on I get the problem, switched off I get no problem.
I have messed around with Panda config but got nowhere, so I've put it out of its misery (and mine), uninstalled it and switched to a different AV package. Problem solved.
Thanks everyone for helping out with this. I really appreciate it :-)
