Does anyone know if there is a free plug in for CorelDraw X6 that will enable you to send things from CorelDraw directly to the Vinyl Express cutters from Signwarehouse?
Short answer; No. But commercial software to exactly that is available.
What software are you referring to?
EuroSystems publication of CoCut. Corel has it on their main web site.
I have used this software, along with my CorelDRAW, since version 11.0 (Both CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and CoCut were at version 11.0). Been very happy with it, as CoCut understands just about every plotter/cutter out there, and includes a macro that plugs right into DRAW so that you can design in DRAW and then go directly to CoCut and cut your design.
Hugh: Thank you for all your help. I still cannot find CoCut on the Corel website but I was able to find it on the internet. Can you send me a link of where it is on the Corel site because I would rather purchase it from them since i have purchased many things from them and I am satisfied with their service. I think I am going to go ahead and get that program but I do have a question for you. There is like a $300.00 difference between the standard and the pro. Since I am very new at the vinyl thing I don't really understand all the terms and tools yet, so my question to you is, what can I do with the Pro that i would not be able to do with the Standard? I'm just trying to understand in easy terms what the differences are. Any guidance you can give me with this would be MOST appreciated. Again, thak you for all your help.
There is a comparison chart on CoCut's site..I use the CoCut Professional but since I upgraded to CorelDraw x6 I have lost the ability to cut directly from Corel as I did in previous versions. the comparison chart is here
http://www.cocut.com/index.dml?unten=software/CoCut_Standard-eng.htm&von=html
I thought my link would take you to the comparison chart but it don't. Just look for the comparison tab and click it.
Thanks. I have seen the comparison chart however, since I am very new to the vinyl business I am not familiar with all the terms and don't know what some of those things are. So I am looking for some guidance on what I would be able to do with Pro that I would not be able to do with Standard so that I can decide if I want to spend the extra $300 for something I might not even use. So, if anyone can please help me with that I would be MOST appreciative.
On another note - are you saying that Cocut does not work with X6?
Charlotte, my version of CoCut does not work directly from CoreDraw x6. My version is 14.0.15 its called CoCut Professional 4X4. I have to copy my design from CorelDraw and paste into CoCut for it to work.. Maybe the "new" version works ...according to what I read...it does.
Robbie: You should search your CoCut installation software (or search your older CorelDRAW folders in the Program Files directory) for the CoCut macro and copy that macro over to your ...\Draw\GMS directory. Once there, you can assign a icon to that macro, and place the icon on any toolbar that you like.
I have carried forward the CoCut macro from earlier installations and this is how I utilize cutting "directly" out of CorelDRAW.
Msg me, if you can not find that macro or if you have problems running it with DRAW X6.
Charlotte60: I am not familiar with the differences between the Pro and the Standard. I have been using the Pro version only.
I do know that there are some changes that I can make to my design, in CoCut, with the Pro version, and I do not have to return to DRAW to make the changes and then back again to CoCut.
I looked over the main Corel web site and I can not longer find the offering of the sale of this product. Corel may have discontinued carrying this product for retail.
I do not know what part of the planet you reside in, but if I knew, I could probably recommend a retailer of this product to you.
Hugh: Thank you for getting back to me. I live in Jarrettsville, Maryland.
If there is anyone that is familiar with Cocut I would appreciate some feedback on the differences between Standard and Professional, as I have mentioned I am very new to the vinyl cutting world and would like to know what things I would be able to do in Professional that I would not be able to do in Standard. I have just spent a ton of money on cutters, vinyls, software programs, etc., and do not want to spend the additional $300 for the professional version if it is just a lot of bells and whistles that I would never use. But if there are things that will make my life easier that I need, that would make a difference. Thanking everyone in advance for their input, as I would like to proceed with purchasing the program. Any and all opinions are welcome.
