show overlapping open files

Hello, I've had this problem ever since I moved from X4 to X6 years ago, finally decided to ask if there is a solution or work around.

If I had multiple files open in X4 they would default to lining up in a sort of cascade but neatly together in the top right corner, opening another file simply lined it up automatically in the cascade in the top corner. 

But with X6, mine default to all being on top of each other and over the top of the program minimise/maximise/close icon like this...

  and I keep forgetting that I have other files open and close down the lot (long after I've forgotten which ones were open:).

I know I can press Cascade to show them all

but is there a way I can set this (or better still, in the top right corner like X4 did) as the default?
