Why does Coreldraw X7 crash on importing EPS files?

Hi Ronny,

It seems to be happening with the newer more complex images. Older EPS files seem OK, but as I want to import the more complex and colourful ones it happens all the time now. X7 crashes, saus can't import or at times imports but the image is unusable as the colours are wrong and some appear grainy.

Did reset as you suggested anyway but these files are still not importing. Anything else I can try or might be causing it?

try to open the EPS with Acrobat, save as PDF and import the PDF to CorelDRAW

Unfortunately I don't have Acrobat installed. Don't really want to spend over £200 unless I really have to. One question though...does Acrobat create PDFs for CorelDraw which can be used by print companies? At present I have to use JPEG files as they don't recommend Corel PDFs as may not be accurate at print.

Acrobat is for view and manage PDF, not for create it, but the program install a virtual printer (AcrobatPDF) that allows to create a PDF from any programs sending to "print to PDF". Anyway, it's not better for this reason, in other words, if the file is on RGB or has low resolution images, the PDF will be the same

That's a dumb advice that only demonstarte a big lack of knowledgment. Sorry, I always treat all people with respect, If he want to use Adobe, i will not try to rescue him from the dark side. But reccomend to use JPG instead PDF, it's not a good option. With a JPG you can't add trapping, overprint, etc. Most of the features are not available. 

There's not a "CorelPDF" vs "AdobePDF". The PDF file format is only one, and CorelDRAW use a licence from Adobe. So, the PDF is the same, and teh result is the same. Not "almost the same", it's the same (I did several test alog the years, for example using Mac and PC with the same file), the only difference is the options you choose. For example, you should choose "bleed" (on all programs, CorelDRAW, Illustrator, InDesign, etc), if you don't add bleed the PDF doesn't add the bleed automatically (except if you save this option as default)
