Rename a spot color (like HKS K) and print/export as pdf

Hi, I'm going mad about this.

I renamed a color to "WHITE" (in the palette editor), set it to be treated as a spot color and exported the document to pdf. No matter if I use "export to pdf" or print it with Acrobat, the color name in the pdf is always the original name... not WHITE as I named it.

What did I do wrong?

Should work. When you Publish to PDF, are you setting the color to Native?

In CD i used a HKS K Color to create a new color namend white and it is autmaticly set to spot color (*** in german - If I use a CMYK Color and set it to Spot, the behavior is the same)... sorry for images in german... but english is not installed.

Then i color the object with this color. palette autoupdate is off!

Then I export this to pdf, color settings are: use programm own (not cmyk or RGB)

And in the pdf the name of the color is changed to HKS color name... :( and, what makes me nervous: No ink coverage

My guess is that since you try to rename a spot color that is part of a fixed palette, the color will stick with the old name even though it looks like it has been renamed.

Easiest thing would be to create a new color in any process color model, then give it a name and convert it to spot in the Palette Editor.
This color should keep its name and spot color definition when exporting to PDF.

Before you export, make sure your objects actually get the new color and don't keep the old process color. Easy to miss. ;-)

That's it, thank you Ronny.

You need to create a complete new color. I tried to take a process color, but an existing one (red). The behavior was the same... but if you select a color without a name, then it works.

Now I only need to find out, why this is document has 0% ink coverage in acrobat ;)
