Two questions/concerns regarding PPX7...I cannot find answers in the online Help.
1. Is there a way to make the workspace background darker? It's almost white (sampled the color and it's R240-G240-B240) It makes it EXTREMELY hard to see. Whether working on photos are starting an image with a white background I want my workspace darker, please. Ideally, I am hoping there is a way I can choose???
2. I have checked the box for Automatic View Resize. If I un-dock the tabbed image/window, I assume the window should resize as I zoom in/out. It's not working. I also cannot manually resize the window. The arrow come up if I hover over the window edge, but it will not let me resize the window.

P.S. I love the new X7 Fill properties!!!! Haven't explored them totally, mind you, but so far I like what I see.
Hello pranderson; Would this be what you are looking for?
George
No, George, that's not it. I'm talking about the workspace background...or the document/work area background in Photo-Paint X7. Maybe I'm not using the right terms. It's the blank gray area that surrounds the image. I want to make it darker. When working with photos (or an image with a white background), it's best to have it a neutral gray or darker. Here's a screen shot for PPX7. I created a new image 800px x 600px with a white background.
I played with the Appearance contrast options under Customization. Changing these has no effect on the work area, only the toolbars and menus. What you see above is High contrast. Too much white!!
Made a quick video to demo how these new X7 windows are behaving (for me anyway). I undocked the image and then attempted to resize it to fit the space. Mind you, I am overworking it here, just for the demonstration.
I do have the PP application window restored down so I can show how trying to resize it results in some weird screen things. I can resize the windows from the left, but not from the right. Anyone else seeing this?
I also noticed that if I right-click on the title bar there is no context menu for Restore Up/Down, Move, etc. Here's the menu you usually see when clicking on any Windows main title bar. This may be as designed for X7 and may be related to the resizing the windows???
Hi Patti,
I watched the Video.
Thanks
S
Stefan,
No, I am not using a second monitor/screen.
If the Auto View Resize option is checked, when you zoom in and out, the window resizes as well. In other words, if I zoom to 50% the window stays tight around the image. I use the scroll button on my mouse to zoom.
The main reason I want do this is because the contrast of that light gray work area is so bad against light images it is impossible to see the edges of the photo. The window frame helps. In PPX6 and earlier, there was/is no problem doing this, plus I could resize the image window from any side or corner.
There is something different about X7 windows, yes?

Okidoki,
I dont see the same issue myself, but I was just wondering if that could have been an issue. Odd you have to see that.
Did you install Typical or Custom? of X7?

Haha, well I actually like X7, at the same time things are different in some areas. Agree.

I fully see your point. In regard to dark UI, yes, I wouldnt mind having a darker option to the UI. But I guess you all the same have tried a darker?
If not, go to Options > And where it says Default, Change to High.
That will darken it a bit.

Installed Typical, the 32-bit version. I have older PS plugins I cannot give up yet. ;) No problem installing whatsoever. Went smoothly and seemed much faster.
I will eventually install X7 on a second computer which has Window 8.1. For now, I am just finding my around X7. Overall I like it, but change in a normal workflow is hard.

Have fun doing it!
