color white

Hi Mightyzot,
Using none for the color engine can lead to trouble. I'm surprised that it is even an option.
As an example, My camera can record photos in either the sRGB color space or the Adobe RGB color space.
1. The camera does not embed a profile. The document in RAM will be assigned the default profile.
2. Now suppose, I want my document to be in sRGB so that it corresponds to what I see on the monitor.
3. That's not a problem if I choose a color engine. (So far, I can't tell the difference between color engines.)
4. The color engine goes through the document on a pixel by pixel basis to change the numbers so that the new sRGB numbers in RAM for each pixel correspond to the same color as the original numbers in Adobe RGB.
5. If there is no color engine, it seems that all the program can do is copy the old numbers without telling anybody that it has done so.
6. Thus all the colors are wrong.
So far as the original post is concerned, I agree with Nasko that the only way to straighten this out is by comparing all the color managements settings in X6 and in the operating system. If that doesn't solve the problem, drop back to X6.
