How can you pull out and tear off menu items. Example how do i tear off the shape tools from the toolbox etc..?
Thank you
Did you try this...
To add or remove a command on a menu
Hello dreamwizard; You can try selecting the icon you wish to remove hold down the Alt key and drag it to the page.Or do what Mike is saying.

First off thank you to you both for your replies. However, I am aware of these options to create my own custom menu but all i want to do is pull off or tear off the entire sub-menu to be able to have those tools available without having to click on the fly-out every time. In previous versions there were dots along the top the I could click and drag to pull out a the tools.
I'm just not sure if they removed that option or if i'm missing something. It seem unlikely to me that they would have removed such a basic and useful option.
I should add that the dots to pull it off only become available once you unlock the toolbars.
I think if you hold down the Alt key and left click on the tool and drag it away, then release the mouse and then the Alt key.
Hi Hugh, Thank you for your response however, that will pull off the individual tool from the menu or toolbox and create a new custom menu and that isn't what i'm trying to do. i'm just trying to pull out the already existing options from the toolbox. For example if you click on the zoom tool flyout button on the toolbox it will reveal all the options available in the menu - in this case the hand or pan tool and the zoom or magnifying tool. I want to be able to drag out that menu so i can keep it expanded and move the collection of buttons or sub menu to a different location.
Below are some images to help me illustrate what I mean.
