center justify text in dimension by default

Is there any way to set the dimension text as center-justified by default?  I tried many ways to set it but after the fact seems to be the only way.

  • I think that this is really a Styles question, because it is driven by the "Default Object Properties" that can be found in the Object Styles docker.

    1. Go to the Object Styles docker.
    2. Under Default Object Properties, select "Dimension".
    3. There will be several sets of properties down below in that docker: Outline, Fill, Character, and Dimension properties.
    4. In the Dimension properties, set it to "Center Text Between Extension Lines". If you can't identify it by the picture (I didn't the first time), then hover over the icons to see the help text pop up.

After you have done that, you have changed that property of the Default Object Properties for the current document.

If you want that to apply to future documents, then right-click on Default Object Properties->Dimension, then select  "Set as New Document Default".
