At last, we now can set the color/contrast of the desktop and not be so blinded by the abundance of white.....
Thank you, Corel, for this nice gift.
Pretty damn cute.

Not.
Do I even want to install this update?
@Ross--if I weren't so lazy I would have wrote a small executable. It would have been easier if I took the time to figure out what the numbers correspond to. Then I could have just made people a .reg file. Open it in Notepad, change the value, save it and double-click the .reg file and its done.
If I cared enough, I could easily write a small utility with all the settings that can be changed whether they were in the Options dialog or not. Combing through the registry to figure out all of them would be tedious, though.
A couple people actually did this for Xara products. Xara had settings they were not willing to put in the Options dialog. Been using this utility for years to make certain customizations in XDP.
Edit to add...
If they hadn't pissed me off I wouldn't have posted the reg key stuff. If I find other little pieces of crap, I might just write a config utility...
I also had to laugh at this one for premies only:
Something every other vector editing software has been able to do for, well, about forever. But hey, Corel can use it as a premie only update to justify charging more for something that is a standard feature elsewhere. For instance, I have used Xara Designer Pro for sometime. I cannot remember seeing this hide an object feature and saying, Wow! That's innovative!.
How much is premie membership again?
Ah well. Maybe we less fortunate (i.e., the unwilling to spend more for standard features) will be able to obtain such an advancement in UI design and functionality with X8.

Hi Mike
For some reason Corel is like the sore I can't leave alone still use it for a lot of little things because it is fast and easy. I suppose I should just accept they will never reach their full potential.
I am a premium member only because I joined just in time to get the special price for X7 when first released We don't use X7 at all in production it is just too flaky I know others do, good for them.
I see they fixed the color problem of colors changing when converting multiple text item to curves lets see 6 months to return to normal we hacked the registry to get what we wanted for backgrounds back in x5. Keep complaining to corel to fix the program though. we have about 14 items we see as bugs we don't list them or waste time with corel because we don't have time to go back an forth.
I certain some one will say, gee boss can I spend $ 99 so I can hide items quark and x6 are doing 40 % adobe the rest
Corel has become an accessory for us rather than a reliable platform.

If I were not already a Premium member I too would be VERY upset. It should be a standard feature. The super light background in Photo-Paint X7 is just unacceptable. I reverted to using PPX6 because of it.
But since I am a Premie, I am going to enjoy not having to wear sunglasses!

As Mike illustrated, a simple reg hack, easily fixes the color for the UI. For them Corel guys, it must have taken like 2 minutes to do it in code and re-compile.
What blows my mind, is that Corel, instead of fixing the myriad bugs that have been reported all over this forum, has changed the color for the UI and touted it as a premium feature!
Un-f@#%ing-believable! I give em a standing ovation!
Now waiting on Update 3, to see what more absurdity Corel is upto.
Go ahead Corel, Make my jaw drop!!

Anything you know how to do is simple and quick. Lots of stuff is working much better now but no cigar yet. My pdf issue is now gone. I am using x7 for real production without issue in regard to what I do.

To me getting rid of the white backgrounds is a big deal and lots of stuff was fixed, not all.
What blows my mind is how much money I can make using Draw and that part gets the cigar. I don't think any complex software will ever be 100%. I mean even if the bugs are fixed Microsoft shifts gears in the o/s and round and round we go. I got loads of high end programs here and they all have issues always did and I guess they always will. I think that is the nature of the game.
Bottom line is can you get the job done
