Greetings all.
Recently (last 1-2 days) CorelDraw x7 has been taking a lot longer than normal to copy/cut.
All other functions seem completely normal. Pasting seems almost instant.
I have tested on a new file with just a square, and it's the same delay (7-8 seconds) as when I copy a huge bit of artwork.
I've made no alterations to any settings, installed any new software or otherwise altered my system in the last few days, so I'm at a loss to explain it.
I have installed the latest update (Current version is 17.2.0.688).
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
I presume you know that if you just want to duplicate an object in CorelDraw you can use the + key on the numeric keyboard ? This is functionally equivalent to copy to clipboard and then paste back, but does not actually use the windows clipboard so usually happens a lot faster.
But this is no good if you want to copy or paste to or from some other program.
Clipboard problems are often caused by other programs on the system, but there is no easy way to find out which other programs are using the clipboard.
I did not know that! And that works instantly, much like the normal ctrl+C I usually use used to.
At least that solves the issue for now.
Thanks Harry, George for your time and help. :)
I solved my problem. I read another post on here about a similar issue, the solution to that was to remove a printer.
I simply opened the printer drivers and removed it from the system - Copying instantly returned to normal. I also remembered that A few days before I posted my problem above I'd recently added a network printer to print something off (which I don't usually do).
So the issue is directly related to how Corel handles network printers in my case - no idea why, but that's the problem - no other software on my computer had any problems at all during this period, just Corel and nothing helped except removing that printer (which admittedly is a fairly old model now!).
Just to add to this issue - there can be a delay when you have too many objects with lens effects. See the file attached. Try copy/pasting and time it if you like. Now try the cleaned file and see the difference.

Indeed, but that's a different issue to what I was experiencing since the instant I changed the default printed from the networked one to a local one the problem disappeared.
The issue I was having was identically the same whether I was coping a huge piece with many layered effects or a simple outline square with no fill, still took that same 7-8 seconds. No variable changed the delay (a newly created file with a single outline square had the same issue as a huge project file, etc.)
My original solution still stands, and I've never had any issues at all since then providing I don't make the network printer the default one.
Thanks for your reply though.
