X7 only allows .bmp, .ico and some other gibberish. I've tried everything to create my own icons but no matter what I do they come out looking horrible. both .ico & bmp.
.ico 16px sq, 128px sq etc no good.
bmp @ 16px sq $ 300 dpi still no good. Antialias off. doesn't matter. What am I missing?
From your original graphic that you have made for your icon, export a 300 x 300, or maybe 600 x 600, PNG file, then share it here.
Better yet, try exporting one with anti-aliasing, and one without, then share them both here.
I can send you back .ICO files to try.
I used an online converter. 8 bit png, 300dpi 16px x 16px.This is the result
Now gonna try in pixel view and build it then export as 16x16 300dpi png no anti-aliasing then convert.
No better fit.
Myron,
300 dpi isn't going to gain you anything because you are literally only using 16 pixels by 16 pixels for the small size. If you don't like using the built in editor I will often use this online one:
X-Icon Editor (xiconeditor.com)
Just make sure you select the 16 x 16, then draw your icon. Click Export and it will export as favicon.ico, which you can then import.

I have a template cdr file that I use. Set up at 128 x128 px. I just export as .ico from Draw and they are immediately useable in the workspace.
