(Later Edit: As mentioned later in thread, this applies to all files opened in Photo Paint, not just screenshots as initially thought.)This started only very recently and I did an installation repair, but that didn't fix this issue. But first here are my Default color management settings:I use Ctrl Shift N to do a New From Clipboard and while once saved as cpt or jpg it is seen in the right colors in Chrome, etc. anything dark gray turns to black.
And here again, when viewing the image directly above in PP...
This only seems to affect dark grays though I haven't tested it on other flat dark colors. Here is another example of this from a 2-screenshot image from my video editor:What it should look like and does - once saved and viewed outside of PP:
What it looks like in PP:
Truth is that on this last examples the non-dark colors were pretty off while I was working on the file. In this case I could ignore this, but in the future such color oddities are not an option. Please advise.Thank you.
On a tablet this forum is difficult.
X8 is so old I can barely remember it. Try using Corel Capture to get your screen grab. In PP start a new sRGB file and save it, that sets color management, then get your scree grab and paste it into PP.
I'll give it a shot.
I did it - using default sRGB IEC61966-2.1 - same result. AND... i just realized it's not just screen captures, it's any file. Here is something I created 4 years ago in X-5 (which worked fine until recently, unrelated problem): left side is in X-8, right side as seen in Chrome - which is what it should look like.I've been using Corel Graphics Suite since 1997 for I couldn't afford Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator that I was studying at a local community college. I'm 66, disabled and on fixed income. so X-8 may be "old" to you, but not everyone can upgrade every few years. And I've barely started using X-8 for I was comfortable using X-5 until a few months ago . I'm very picky about setting up my workflow (commands, command bars, etc.) and getting used to X-8 was enough of a challenge.I've never had to touch or change color management over all the years I've been using GS.Bottom line, I've opened up a ticket with support - pointing to this discussion. In the mean time, I'll download Graphics Suite 2021 just to test out the same thing in its PP.
Just tried the GS 2021 evaluation version of PP, works fine in there, including regular non-Corel Capture screenshot I use (Ctrl-Alt Print Screen). Reinstalled X-5, same files and screen shot test, no problem there either. The issue that made me uninstall it earlier was that Windows 10 only recognized X-8 as default program for PP (the .exe files are identical, so it must go for the newest). I'll have to live with that issue until the X-8 issue is hopefully fixed. So obviously something wrong with my X-8. But I certainly will not pay for a USD $254 upgrade due to this one albeit serious glitch. Never had this problem with any of my GS versions since my first in '97.
