What happened to my thumbnails?

I just installed X8, but now all of my thumbnails in windows explorer are the Corel logo instead of the art preview thumbnail.

How can I fix this?

Mine worked in Windows Explorer itself but not the import/open window inside draw. This is a recurring problem that happens when installing a new version of Corel. Try right clicking on a CorelDraw file in Windows Explorer and choose properties and click change and choose X8. This might fix it.

Since CorelDRAW use the Windows Explorer for their internal import/open window, if it works under Windows Explorer it should work under CorelDRAW too. Maybe your View is set as "list" or "details", not "thumbnails".

Choosing CorelDRAW X8 as the default program for CDR files should fix the problem under of Windows Explore

Just to be clear, both your X7 and X8 CDR files don't show the thumbnail correctly?

Lets try the following:
#1
From your Windows Control Panel, Programs, Programs and Features
(Do you have Corel Graphics - Windows Shell Extensions Version 18.0.0.448, is this the case?)
Select CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X8, click on Uninstall/Change, Click on Repair, click on next to perform the repair
See if this fixed the issue

If not try the following:

From Windows Explorer go to: C:\Windows\System32
Look for Cleanmgr.exe and double click on it
Click ok, to clean your C: Drive
In the list of options that come up, select Thumbnails and click Ok.
Reboot your computer
See if this fixed the issue

Oh come on.
Missing thumbnails has been a chronic problem in CDGS for the last thousand years.

Usually, it is cured with the associations thing, but why does that keep recurring.

Frequently nothing works. I can't use X7 because I can't get CPT thumbnails. I now hesitate to waste any time with X8 if I am going to run into missing CPT thumbnails yet once more.

Mystic Thumbs produces thumbnails for Corel .cdr, .Corel pspimage, .psd, and about 100 other file formats.

Mystic Thumbs has offered to work on .cpt thumbnails if Corel releases the .cpt specification to them. Corel ignores them.

Just out of curiosity, can you let us know why Corel won't release the .cpt specification to Mystic Thumbs.

Actually Phil three weeks ago I fixed 3 of these problems and Ariel did 3 or 4. The young lady has her problem fixed in X8 before you posted and the gentleman will send me an email and I'll fix his issue or someone else will.

Phil you have X6, couldn't make X7 work and now you're offering advice on X8.
