Redundant (overlapping) nodes in exported ai and eps (18.1)

Yes, Ronny, pdf does the job. And yes, for the price of separating fills and outlines.

Ai is definitely the industry standard so this bug is obviously critical.

I really love CorelDraw but I'm tired of the feeling that I'm traveling in dying Howl's moving castle —

I'm slow, but I get there...Yep. AI has an extra node with an AI & EPS export from CD. One application I use a lot, XDP, can open the EPS and it also has the extra node.

CorelDraw can reopen the AI or EPS, no extra node. PhotoLine can open the EPS, no extra node. Affinity Draw can open the EPS, no extra node. Expression Draw can open the EPS, no extra node. InkScape can open the EPS, no extra node. My font creation application can import the EPS and AI file, no extra node.

I can use Distiller to create a PDF from the EPS, open that in AI, no extra node. I can open that PDF in XDP, no extra node. I've never seen Distiller remove or add nodes, so I don't know what to make of that.

Net effect, I don't know who's problem it really is. Likely there is something about the CD-produced AI/EPS files that obviously makes AI and XDP read or create the extra node. Or, the applications that didn't have the extra node somehow knew it shouldn't be there.

Hah! Geez I am getting blind in my old age...

I had exported both an EPS and AI, imported them both back into CD and evidently only inspected the EPS import. It doesn't have the extra node. At least in CD, one can just lasso those overlapping nodes and merge them without changing the outline shape. If AI can, I don't remember how.

Re software. That's on my laptop which is what I use for futzing around on forums--I don't use the desktop for forum surfing. The desktop has a couple more vector drawing packages. It's what it takes to support native files for my clients. Heck, even the laptop has 4-5 image editors, 4 layout applications...

You know, I have my preference in vector design/editing applications. It is not uncommon for me to start illustrations in one or another application and eventually finish it off in AI. Sometimes that simply means opening it and saving a native AI version for returning to the client. I really do not believe I have ever noticed this before. Because of this thread, though, I'll be on the watch, so thank you.

I wish I had a process I could share that was "do ABC and it'll work out fine." But other than going through a PDF to AI, I don't see a way around the extra node on such a simple drawing.
