I have the Roland color palette installed into Corel X8. It appears to be functioning as normal, as far as coloring objects, text, etc...When I export the file, EPS or PDF, and then open it in Versaworks, Under 'file format' and then 'spot colors' the option to choose
those spot colors is not there. It's grey and unavailable.I understand that this question is as related to Roland and Versaworks as it is to Corel. Hoping there are some sign professionals
here that might be familiar with this problem.I've moved my sign shop recently and upgraded to X8 from X3, and am experiencing some 'growing pains'.
Are you exporting as NATIVE color?
I believe the Roland palate has CutContour as a magenta set to spot.
When you set the stoke to CutContour and select the stroke does CortelDRAW show it as CutContour?
Create a simple CDR file please, assign a CutContour outline and publish to PDF. Send the resulting PDF to davidmilisock@graphictechnology.com and I'll check out the PDF.
As far as you green tinted images goes getting color management working in Versaworks can be a challenge.
Why color space are the images in?
What format do you send them to VW in?
Do you embed a profile with your images?
Is VW set to honor embedded profiles in an image?
If memory serves VW will not honor embedded profiles in a PDF and it is required that you set VW color management to assume the PDF files color spaces.
Here is my Versaworks setup. This gives me great colour.
By discarding the colour profile I force everything to use sRGB or Roland CMYK ...
The second attachment is my PDF colour settings out or CDR.
Corel PDF Colour Settings
I thought I had replied to this already, but maybe I wrote it out and then while juggling tabs, closed it without hitting 'post'. I've come back to this after quite some time. I was able to 'get by' for a while, but now I really need to match a color to the VW color pallette. Nothing I've tried so far yields any positive results. I guess, first thing is, I'm able to import EPS files into VW from before I upgraded to X8 and they still function as they should. Spot colors appear in the 'file format' dialog just like they should. Having tried a number of things, I still can't get any of the Roland Colors to convert to spot within VW. The pallette appears to be just fine in Corel, as best as I can tell... and the CutContour also works just fine. Applying a color to an object in Corel shows the correct color when selecting that object. It will say in the bottom right, "RVW-ST37K" etc... I've tried every export option available to me, from within the EPS and PDF export dialogs, to no avail. I've tried postscript 2 and 3. I followed the instructions as laid out above... and a number of other things as well, and still no change. FWIW, due to a totally different issue, I've had to reinstall CD recently, so this problem has persisted across two installs... though, I didn't wipe out the Corel Folder or any of its supporting folders when I reinstalled, I wish I had, and might still give that a shot if it comes down to that, but I'd much rather not have to reconfigure if I can help it. Anyway, kinda desperate here. Not sure what else to try. I'm poking around and color mananagement and pallettes etc... in the hopes of finding something fruitful to try. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. I have a job to run right away tomorrow and the color needs to match the Roland Pallette.Edit: I noticed that within the Corel Color Pallette dialog, that CD is looking for an XML file for the pallette and all I have is the CPL. The CPL appears to be fine when adding it, but I wondered if there was a newer XML file that maybe for some reason I don't have?Shooting in the dark now...
In Chris's post you see his PDF export is native color, which means as built in CS, with no embedded profile and his Roland CM settings assume the color profiles that (as shown in his PDF dialogue) are his CorelDraw CM settings so he is using an assumed color space CM workflow. He uses two different rendering intents though.
If you duplicate his PDF settings and send me a link to the PDF I can check to see if its exporting as spot color.
