I am now using CorelDRAWX8 I used to be able to edit a bitmap from draw it would open up paint then i could make my changes save and it would be back in draw now the edit bitmap button is not active how can I fix this even if I right click is does not give me the option to edit the bitmap please help thanks Deb
I'm a bit hesitant to give advice on the home version since I don't have it but f I were in your position, I would make sure I had everything required to install X8, make sure my system had internet access, launch CorelDraw, make sure I was logged into my account.
Close everything except Windows, uninstall X8, (removing all user files), reboot the system.
Install X8 (do not use the default install directory unless you have to), the default is c:\programs\xxxxx\, I use c:corelx8\xxxx\, the x's being the standard install folder structure. After installation if ask sign into your account.
DO NOT LAUNCH THE PROGRAM, reboot the system, hold the F8 key on your keyboard and launch the CorelDRAW, when ask, reset to default work space, check for updates, install the updates, reboot the system.
Hold the F8 key launch CorelDRAW, once it opens close it, hold the F8 key and launch Corel Photo-PAINT, when ask, reset to default work space, close it.
Launch CorelDRAW import an image and see if edit bitmap works.
This has been an issue for, well forever! The problem is the registry entry is not separated by CDGS version. So when you uninstall it removes the entry and causes it to break other installs, moreover, the last version installed becomes the version used in all versions installed. This is why a repair usually works as it will rewrite the registry.
Ah I spoke too soon so yes the edit bitmap feature allows it to now open in photo paint4 instead of 8 however the tools do not all work....eraser tool pick color tool painting in a masked area.... geez and how to get it to open up in paint 8 instead of 4
