Hello
Possible silly question coming up...
I'm creating some white shapes in Draw X8 to use as a mask in Corel Video Studio.
However, they don't show up against the transparent page background.
Is there a way to use a colour/pattern alias for transparent areas?
eg... Using MSPaint will show transparent areas in a PNG using a checkered pattern.
Thanks!
Rich
Just for the hell of it, I went into document settings and applied a seamless png of a checkerboard pattern to the background. It works fairly well, except, even though I disable the option to "Print and Export background," it still exports the background. Guess I found a bug. One would have to change the background before export / print this way.
Tried making a new layer and just drawing a page size box and filling it with the pattern. But that produced some moiré like distortion. Maybe if if my pattern was different it would work better. My thought was to put that layer on the bottom and visibility on and off. Still might could work with a better pattern. Maybe I'll try another time.

I just tried that, using exactly the same PNG file (CtW5Q.png) for the background, and then tried:
both with and without "Print and Export Background" checked.
These all worked as expected - background present if the box was checked, background absent if the box was unchecked.
This was on CorelDraw version 18.1.0.661.

I tried the PNG export again in X8, both with and without Transparency enabled. Here, it's working as expected.

What you describe - only exporting what is bounded by the extents of the objects - is what I consider to be normal. If I want the export to have some empty space around the visible objects, then I add a no-outline, no-fill rectangle. My experience with exporting to bitmap format is limited, through, so I can't say with any confidence if it has always worked that way.
