I recently uninstalled and reinstalled Corel X8 trying to fix another problem and now I cant open/ use the program at all. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times as well as trying to do a repair. Neither made any difference. I thought perhaps because I was trying to install from files saved on a cloud service that could be the issue so I made a copy of the installation file onto the hard drive and tried reinstalling from that. This didn't make a difference. I installed Corel2019 and that program opens just fine.
This leads me to believe that the install file is where the problem lies despite having used it to install the program multiple times on multiple different PCs over the years. Im not an expert though. Does anyone know what could be wrong or what I could do to fix this?
Well I got a new install file from tech support. This made no difference. I have no idea why my computer cant use X8...
So I freshly installed on 2 Windows 10 PCs and the program wont open. But a fresh install on a Windows 11 PC caused it work. Leads me to think there is something wrong with Windows 10 version 21H2 and X8 specifically maybe?
Maybe a simple 'bad installation'.Its the good ol' WTH windows bugs. Probably conflicts during the installation. You'll have to try uninstalling completely your program, when I mean completely... I mean the whole thing... All traces in the registry, and useless folder in windows. It's a very long and complicated maneuvre. Are you ready and able to do so?If so, communicate with me in private.
I got in contact with tech support.
They had me delete:
1. CorelDraw Graphics Suite X8 Folder.2. FontDatabase Folder.3. Messages Folder.
This allowed me access to X8. It seems a bit strange now though. Especially with the larger file that I'm working with now. It was fine but now its really slow and objects are becoming invisible making it really tough to work.
