Hi
Is it possible to get the line thickness down of the calligraphic and/or pressure tools in artistic media? The minimum thickness seems to be .762mm (2.16 pt or 0.03"). I use a Wacom Intuos 3.
Thanks, Colin
With the page set to 300dpi, I can get the line thickness down to "hairline" which is lower than the lowest value of 0.5pt
... maybe try this...
menu, layout, page setup, resolution
change it to 300dpi
hit okay
then go to the objects properties docker or at the top and change the line thickness to whatever.
Another thing to try, is (after doing the above) typing 0.1 into the pen thickness edit box and hitting enter... on my computer, that takes the line thickness down to about half the thickness of "hairline"
However, if it's a problem with the pressure reading from your tablet, try redoing the calibration IN DRAW, but only press about half as hard.
Hi Davoid
Thanks for getting back. i'd already tried everything you suggested and always work at 300dpi anyhow. I've recalibrated the pen settings several times; pressing so lightly that it barely recorded a line!
I've attached a screenshot of the stroke width box, which I cannot get any lower than .762mm.
Any further help much appreciated.
Thank, Colin
have you tried increasing the precision in Draw?
There's some place in the settings where you can set the number of decimal places... you want that probalby about 3, but not too huge or else it might cause performance issues with unnecessary math at 4 sig figs.
Maybe that will do it... another thought is that your default measuring size in your doc is not the same as with your display... again, I think that's in the options under tools.
My bet would be on the number of decimals though.
The precision was already set at 3 decimal places. I've never touched so I would guess that's the default.
I've changed the default in Properties to Hairline but it's had no effect on the minimum width of the stroke width .762mm
. I've added another screenshot showing the width of line achieved with the minimal pressure settings in artistic media (red line) and the freehand tool set at Hairline (black line).
Maybe that's just the way things are, but I'd really rather not swop between tools while drawing. Thanks for your continued interest.
Best regards, Colin
PS I have no problems with width of line in Xara Designer, going as thin as I want, so assume the pen settings are OK.
