  • Hi Hari

This a longstanding problem with DRAW exports. There was a macro that was created by Jeff or Os which removed the 1 pixel white border around the bitmap. I use the workaround of cropping the bitmap by 1 or 2 pixels from the required sides.

  • CorelDRAW X4 SP1 was the first version in CorelDRAW history to export images without the outer AA artifacts. Not only for vector shapes, but bitmaps too!

SP2 was just released and includes SP1 inside it.

    This being the case...

I'll share a tip from PowerTips 1 for all pre X4 SP1 versions of CorelDRAW: I've used this method for building web components since version 9.

Make the background color of your document the same hue as the color of the outer shapes you are exporting.

Why? Draw AA's the edges of exports relative to the document's background color. If the colors are the same, there's no transitional color created.

If you have many images exported already and just want to clean them up, this macro shown below has a function to do it, plus more things. I should have it uploaded in a day or so

    hello!

I have similar, but oposite problem - in export Corel X3 cut one pixel border I want to have exported.

In example when I draw black rectangle with a gray border, with export I have same image as above. But I want to have gray border all around.

Doesn't matter if I export to Jpg or Bmp.

To avoid that I put another, bigger rectangle around, export it all, and then cut image down to have it with all borders, but this is very annoying. Before I was using Corel 9, and there was no such problem.

Do you have any idea how to fix that?

Hi, sorry to say that the problem is not solved in the X4 version. I have the X4 version SP2 (French), but I still have this stupid problem.

I made a bunch of icons to be placed on several pages with different background colours. The icons have a "background" adapted to the destination coulour page. Exporting them in BMP or JPG (no change), the small 1 pixel hell (white) border is present.

I must use Corel Photo Paint to modify each icon individually.  Just creay !!!!

I tried to adapt background of Corel Draw before to export. It works, but here again it is creay, because I have several backgrounds and my Icons are on the same sheet. So I have to change and adapt back ground before to export icons.

I don't understand Corel phylosophy . If you make an icon on Corel and export it, why should it be antialiased in the border ? No sens.

I searched the Web, but didn't find any other solutions.

Does someone can confirm the problem is solved with X4 in English ?  I don't mind to ask Corel to provide me an English X4 version if the problem is really solved in this version. Because I become creasy with this problem.

Jeff, you made a solution for previous versions, does your solution works with X4 (FR) ?

    Any suggestions ?

    Kind regards.

This seems odd, i just made a very small filled square X4 SP2 , no outline. And exported as blue bitmap at 16x16 pixels. No fringes are on it, even though I had AA on during export. So, all is good. upload a small Draw file of yours with one icon i can test to see what it does here.

Almost all programs work that way, but Corel listened to us and fixed it. Adobe? I don't think Illus. can do this. FWIW Inkscape is good.

My solution not needed for X4. since Draw not export with problems for me. The tool I show before is a macro for PP X4. for fixing images that may have come from somewhere else and has the fringe. It does not crop images, since that changes the pixel dimensions of file. It fills in the fringe with color from nearby.

here's a solution that works perfectly.

    Try this:

    1. Close draw
    2. Open 'Start-Run' then enter 'regedit'
    3. go 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\CorelDRAW\14.0\CorelDRAW\Application Preferences\Convert to Bitmap\'
    4. set "ExpandHalfPixelWhenAntiAliasing" to 0

You should have the old behaviour.

It's a solution that Hendrik suggestes.

    thank you Hendrik, once more

I don't know why. I must try further. May be you can tray with my uploaded files ?

    THanks.

Hi HKLee, thanks for the advise. I tried, your suggestion but, unfortunately the result is the same.
I still have a lighter boarder (1 px) all arround the exported file. May be you try my uploaded files.

I proceed as you mentionned, and even reboot the PC. But result is same.

    Any other suggestions ?

    Thanks.

(PS I changed my Name Maillefer to Jean-Claude)

Oh, my!! with your file, Same problem here

I think It is dfferent problem from 'ExpandHalfPixelWhenAntiAliasing'

Exporting or converting to bitmap a object with Outline under 2px cause such a broblem, but no problem with no outline or thicker than 2px.

Export or convert to bitmap your object without outline to avoid such problems and here is another way, see the movie http://www.fleetingglimpse.com/tutorials/nowhitebox/nowhitebox.html

Thank you for the link. This is what I found previousely: changing the background of the Corel Draw file. But this is hard job if you have several icons with different background colours, I have or to put them in different files or to set the correct background before exporting.

But I don't understand one issue.  Jeff Harrison posted a file with a sample that works in his and in my configuration (without ExpandHalfPixelWhenAntiAliasin set originally to 1). ????
I'm still search some rules for that. At present only his CDR file can export OK.
