We're trying to come up with an easy way to track time on workorders. If I could open an existing file or start a new file then hit a macro to start recording time then hit stop when it's ready for proofing I can add the time to the workorder form for more accurate pricing. Seems our company is losing a lot of money because of the time spent fixing customers layouts. You can lose a lot of customers trying to explain why their files are no good. It's become common practice to redraw or touch up the designs. if there were some way to do a simple time stamp. I know there are lots of timers out there and I've tried some but they all take too much time to even get them to start i.e. find your project start/edit time blah blah. All I need is start stop function.
You might take a looks at Jeff's Info Helper on www.macromonster.com

Not really, that's one of the programs I tried. You have to create "projects" which creates a whole new world of directories on top of the 10,000 client files we have. Too many parameters to input. Trying something like this.
A few suggestions: 1) Insert a spreadsheet (or word processing document), or it's icon, into the document being worked on. Could be placed outside the page, in order not to be in the way. Object | Insert New Object (or Create from File). Just record start time and end time, and subtract the start time from the end time. 2) Try the Object Data Manger docker. This looks like a rudimentary spreadsheet and seems tied to individual objects. Might be hard to use. 3) Record info in the Comments section of Document Properties. The trouble is, you need to remember to do it. File | Document Properties.
Object Data Manager was discussed here long back.
