I have CD2018 on my Desktop and laptop, both running Windows 10 64 bit and up to date. Whenever I click on the Text Menu (on the menu bar) CD freezes and then closes. This happens on both PCs so I don't think it's something on my system.
Anyone?
Do you use a customized workspace, imported perhaps?
Aha! Yes, Ronny, I do. I just tried it with one of the Corel supplied workspaces and the issue was non-existent. So it's the workspace, then. Good call! Is there a way to track down what part of my custom workspace would be causing this?
I don't have a fix to offer, but in the interest of having more information...
Is this a workspace that started out as a 2018 workspace, and was then modified by you? Or is it one that you imported from a previous version of CorelDRAW?
I believe what I did was I imported a custom workspace from X6 into the default 2018 workspace and then customized it further. Also, I found a lot of the 2018 toolbar icons hard to make out so I replaced them with ones I had created for X6 plus some additional new ones.
Thanks!
I really like the idea of being able to import workspaces from previous versions, but I have a gut-level lack of confidence in it - like, is it really going to get it all right?
If you are having problems, then you might consider starting from a "clean" default 2018 workspace, then importing parts of the older workspace selectively - e.g., just specific custom toolbars - and seeing how that goes.
Full disclosure: I would personally start over from scratch in 2018 - but that's just me!
Hello, would it be possible to provide the original workspace that you imported, as well as the current 2018 workspace you are having issues with, so that we may test them internally?
If so, can you email them to me directly? sharon.potts@corel.com.
Thank you, Sharon
I would do like Eskimo says, start from scratch. So many things have happened since X6 so it is very likely that there will be conflicts. But if everything else works, try to reset only the menu bar (right-click menu bar, then Customize > Menu Bar > Reset to Default). Then it should be fairly simple to customize the menu bar from inside 2018 instead, if you need to.
I did try starting from default and importing each section of the workspace one at a time, trying the Text menu after each import. All was working properly until the last element was imported: toolbars. So it's one of the toolbars.
