Hey everyone,
I am trying to create a transparent PNG file within CorelDraw 2018 using the Export for Web.
I want the Red color to be transparent and I have it selected and also have the Transparency check box checked.
As you can see in the image, the transparency isn't being displayed in the preview window and when I actually export the PNG file, the red color is still visible.
Am I doing something wrong?
This used to be a very simple thing to do and now it seems pretty convoluted or broken.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

No thoughts on this? I was really hoping someone else had this experience with 2018 and would be able to offer a solution. lol
I just use the standard export settings for PNG export, everything works fine with transparency in my 2018.

Before going any further, I'm asking here to make sure that I understand what you want to accomplish.
Are you hoping to export a transparent PNG file that does not include the red "background"?
Hi Eskimo
Exactly.
A PNG file where the red area in the artwork will be transparent in the PNG file.
OK, thank you!
To the best of my knowledge, I don't think that the export procedure works that way.
In the PNG export, I think that checking "Transparent" just tells it that you want to create a transparent PNG.
I think that the "Matte" option is there to allow one to be able to specify a "background" color to be used when creating the bitmap file. In other words, it lets one specify a color to be used in all areas of the export where the CorelDRAW document has no color. When "Transparent" is selected, the "Matte" option is grayed out.
If you want to have content - e.g., a red background - that is visible in CorelDRAW, but does not get included when printing or exporting, I know of two ways to do that:
Hi Eskimo!
Hmmm....ok thanks for that explanation!
It seems that this process must have changed since the X4 version of CorelDraw which is the version we used for many years before moving to the 2018 version.
In X4, when exporting a PNG file, you used an eye dropper to select the color in the image that you want to be transparent in the PNG file. It was a very simple and quick way to create a transparent PNG file, so I was very confused on why this process wasn't working in the 2018 version as it did in X4.
Thanks for taking the time to help!
