Dear Corel users
Every time I open a new empty document in CorelDRAW 2018 and draw a line or produce other graphics CMYK is chosen as default. I want RGB however (as recommended by Foster Coburn in a video). I am not making graphics for Prepress. It is mostly for online viewing and occasionally output on simple laser printer. I have set Primary Color Mode to RGB via the Default Color Management Settings dialog. The strange thing is that despite my settings graphics are created with CMYK. Then I opened on old file I created a couple of years ago. Inside that file graphics are always created in RGB. The Document Color Settings (under Color Management) are exact the same in the two documents. I am very confused. I hope someone can help me figure out what is wrong and how to make the RGB settings permanently for every new document!
Kind regards,
Erik V.
When I choose Tools|Color Management|Default tab, then change the "Primary color mode" to RGB" and click OK, the color mode on all new documents is RGB. Is that the outcome you're seeking?
Thanks to both of you. To Eskimo: I don't receive a dialog at all when creating a new document. It is just created right away - I assume from the Default Color Management settings and the other Documents settings in Tools > Option. Anyway my files say Primary Color Mode RGB, so that does not seem to be the problem. When trying File > Document Properties the dialog says Primary Color Mode RGB in both of my files. Further down the list I recognized a difference, though:
Apparently the old file has RGB as Objects and Color Models, whereas the new one uses CMYK. But where do I make those changes? (don't remember how I did earlier )

If you ever decide that you do want to see that dialog, the setting is in Options>Workspace>General:
You are right, Eskimo! I tried it out. There is however no way to make it work from this dialog. I can choose RGB as Primary color yes, but still something is missing. The fill turn out to be RGB, but not the outline. The latter is still CMYK. That is my problem. Of course I can change it to RGB for every line, I create, but I can find nowhere to make the settings permanently. Maybe someone can tell me how?
Once you have a new Corel default RGB document created I suggest using the new document dialog preset, right click the black RGB color swatch and the change document default dialog will pop up set for graphic say ok, then the outline pen dialog will appear make sure it's still set for RGB 000 say ok, then go to the layout menu document options, the document options dialog will appear and click the lower left save as default button. After that all Corel Default RGB document should have default RGB fills and oputlines.
Thanks to you too David. There are different ways to do things ...
Erik I gave you the method I did because I believe your default RGB document setting in the new document dialog had gotten corrupt and in my experience that method should have fixed it.
